I Hi All,

I rarely post here as my daughter, Destiny, is on the mild end of the RSS

spectrum. We haven't had to face many of the challenges that can come with the

syndrome, so I usually don't feel like I have anything of value to add to the

discussion.

However I read every message here and have gotten a lot out of your collective

wisdom.Right now we could really use a healthy dose of that wisdom.

At Destiny's last pediatric visit the doctor found here to have clonus, all I

know is that it is a neurological problem in her reflexes that indicates damage

to the motor neuron in the spinal cord.

There will have to be more tests of course.I am currently looking for insurance

I can afford. I recently started recieving a monthly support amount from a

settlement over Destiny's father's death that made me too rich for medicaid, but

I am self-employed, a single parent and most months just scraping by.

When I did an internet search on clonus I found that it was associated with

multiple sclerosis among other things.

Destiny is an incredible kid, like all our kids. She will be 5 in Feb. She reads

at a third grade level, writes well enough to make sense with her invented

spelling, adds, subtracts, and otherwise exceeds all cognitive expectations.

I know in the worst case scenario she has the spirit and inner stength to adapt.

But she also loves her Taekwondo. She is a green belt. She has classes four days

a week and lives for tournaments, especially sparring and weapons. It's breaking

my heart when I see her go through her form kicking every time with the wrong

foot because as she says " my other leg wasn't working " .

I really need some more information about clonus and if any of your children

have this. I'm doing the worried mom freak-out right now.

If you want to see photos of my pint-size pugilist, I made a file under Destiny

S.

Thanks, , mom to Fawn 27, Josh 21(in Iraq with the 101st) , 15, and

Destiny RSS, 34lbs 39in and 5-in-a-minute.
