Guest guest
, Congrats and welcome to the group! Most OB's don't want to see you till your 8 weeks along so I wouldn't be to worried that they don't want to see you right away. My husband is in the military and so we no longer live in the state that I had my surgery in and as a result don't have the option of seeing my surgeon. In addition to that the OB that I have, I am also his first WLS patient. This didn't worry me too much as my OB and I discussed in detail the surgery and I explained to him that I would feel better if we did some extra blood tests to check levels that may be an issue for WLS patients. At that time I also discussed with him that I would not be able to take the usual gestational diabetes test because of the risk of dumping. He was very understanding and said that he would follow my lead as far as nutrition and if we felt it was necessary at any point we would consult a nutritionist. Even when I ended up losing 25lbs during the first trimester due to morning sickness my OB was relaxed about the whole thing, which made me feel relaxed. I am now 37 weeks pregnant and so far my daughter is doing great. Its good that you know exactly when your last period was so you can be confident about your due date. Take your vitamins and drink/eat healthy! Axelrod Newbie w/ questions Hello all my name is and I live in Nevada. I am about 10 1/2 months out from surgery and have lost about 145 lbs. I have been sick for the last few weeks and finally took a preg test last night which was positive and another one this morning which was positive. I am schedule this afternoon w/ my PCP, but I am alittle worried about my surgeon and OB docs. I called them first thing this morning, but surgeron's nurse tells me that I will be their first pregnancy patient and I got the same spill from my OB. How long did you wait until you first appt. w/ the OB and do you still see your surgeon. I am actually only about a month along, if that because the first day of my last period was on March 4th. Any help or suggestions anyone has would be greatly appreciated. Guest guest
You should be fine at 10 1/2 months postop. I got prego at 111/2 and all is well. Alot of people on my other group are even closer postop than that and had or are having healthy babies. I do not see my surgeon anymore, just my OB. I am NO DIFFERENT than any other patient really except that I eat different. i take my regular vitamins, I went and got 800 mcg of Folic Acid and the OB gave me a script for prenatals that I take with my regular things. Eat as best you can, several small meals if you need to, get plenty of fluids and you should be fine. God Bless, Robin, NorthEastern, NY EDD- July 27th, 2004 IT'S A BOY!!!!!!
