Guest guest
Was it the tendon on the back of his heel? The Achilles tendon? Was it a very short surgery done in the office with local anesthesia (some docs do it under general too) and then a 3w cast? Do you have any pictures of his feet before treatment? Any of them now? We have a picture list where you can send emails with photos attached that you may be interested in joining. We love baby faces and feet there! Guest guest
one cast for 6 weeks?? Wow... how old was he at the time? Infants grow so fast, 3w is about the limit for one cast. Did they replace the cast halfway through? That surgery is called a Tenotomy and is standard for most clubfoot babies treated with the Ponseti Method. Not all of them get it, but most do. My daughter didn't need one. It is surgery, yet not surgery in the sense that it is anything more than a quick nick of the tendon. It doesn't even require stitches, they bandaid it and cast it for 3w (not 6) and in babies under 2 the tendon regenerates with no lasting effects (as opposed to an adult, who if the Achilles is cut they are maimed for life). So were his feet turned to his backside or in and up towards the inside of the calf? I'd be interested in seeing these feet if you've got any pics.
