Guest guest
Hello Everyone I know that we had a big discussion before about what we were using and this is what I learned yesterday The nurse said she can't recommend it because they don't know why it works but it has worked for other pt. She said to try it and see what type of results we got. The silver nitrate worked but within a few days we had the tissue growing back again. The next thing would be to do a day surgery and " burn the tissue inside and out " . Apply Eucalyptus Oil to the tissue. Found in a vitimin store for about $5 for a 10ml bottle I followed the directions of 5 drops to 10 ml of water. Applied it last night and by morning the site improved. The nurse also recommended to deflate the balloon a bit so it could spin. The other nurse we saw said to keep it tight. Go figure. Hope this helps and have a great day Maloy
Guest guest
Hi Maloy, I wanted to respond about your post. has a g tube and has not had any problems with granulation tissue at all. His site is perfect. He has even had three different types of g tubes put in him. The last being one that Dr. H placed. After she did this, 's site got really red and looked VERY irritated and I was afraid it may get infected. The bumper was right on top of his skin, which I never allowed with previous tubes. I have always requested that they pull it back slightly so that there is room for air to get in to it and also so that it can move around better. I have always thought that if it was tight on his skin, it wouldn't allow air to get to it, and create an environment for moisture and bacteria to collect and grow. So, as I said, 's site is perfect and I have even had doctors and even Dr. H comment on how " nice " it was. So, maybe that is the trick. Don't let the bumper be pulled back so far that it is floppy and has too much play in it.Just allow enough room so that it isn't tight on the skin. After I had Dr. H pull 's bumper back and after some applications of bicatracin, it got better and the rednees went away, and now it is perfect again. Plus, I only clean around 's site with a washcloth and baby wash. I don't use the peroxide/sterile waster mixture. That was creating irritation also. The peroxide stays there and festers and creates redness. 's GI doctor told me to just wash it with the baby wash, and once I did that, too, irritation went away. I hope some of this helps. It is just what I have learned through trial and error. Take care, Jodi R. IUGR/RSS 20 months old tomorrow! 14 lbs. 5 oz. now! Wooohoo!
