Guest guest
Hi everyone. I have finally started to catch up on all my list mail. My third daughter, andra, was born 1/15/04 by scheduled c-section, and was 8 lbs 9 oz and 22 " long. Everything went fine and we are both doing well. Miranda is doing well. Surprisingly she's actually gone up in the charts. Although her geneticist is still pretty certain about her RSS diagnosis (she has many of the features), recently at Miranda's 2-year checkup she actually measured above 50% for height and has gone above 10% for weight. Feeding her is still a daily struggle, but she's obviously getting enough. I just thought I'd share one of our tricks for getting extra calories into her. Miranda usually has an aversion to high-fat foods (girl eats like a humming bird, all she ever wants is fruit and bread). But she loves oyster crackers, so to add calories we fill the crackers with high-calorie foods such as peanut butter or margarine. If you press your fingernails along the edge of an oyster cracker you can get it to crack neatly in half. Just put a dab of peanut buttern inside and press it back together. She'll eat peanut butter if its hidden like this. As an aside, we are moving the two older girls into a bunk bed. Our 4 year old will be in the top bunk, with Miranda in the bottom. My only concern with the top bunk is whether she'll be able to get to the potty in time if she wakes in the middle of the night.
