Guest guest
Hi , I'm Liz, s mom. We are planning on having a raffle on May 3 during a bingo game. The Bingo game and instants are fundraising for diabetics and the raffle is for Magic. We are asking local companies to donate items for the raffle. Saturday we went to at least 20 stores and recieved about 8 donations. Can you give us any advise as how to have a turnout like yours? Would you know of any way to get more donations or who to go to? Any advise is welcome and needed. Thanks!! Guest guest
Hi Liz - I live about 20 min outside Boston - we found that if didn't focus on small in-town business we were better off - big chain restuarants usually give -tourist attractions are very generous - remember - word of mouth also helps - Make sure you have a letter that you can present - or send out the letter with a contact name/then follow up with call in about a week. Be VERY specific on what you want - if you want movie passes - tell them you want 4 movie passes - we actually contacted a local TV station that donated a day for 6 people to come and watch the morning broadcast. You really have to think outside the box.....also remember people just like to WIN - they really dont care what they win - hope this helps. If you want email privately and I'll see what else we can do..bkay0504@...
Guest guest
, Wow! I can not believe how successful your fundraiser went. You are an inspiration. I would love to hear the details on how you did it. I have always thought about doing a fundraiser, but must admit I feel intimidated by doing it. Guest guest
thanks - Deciding to actually do it is the biggest decision of all. Pick a date - get the hall and then there is no turning back. The most important thing that we found was - have a task list and just tick things off - have a leader and DELAGATE - DELAGATE - DELAGATE - we did not pay for one things - not the hall, dj, food, paper goods, balloons, table cloths (not plastic either) --- we made our own tickets - everyone brought deserts -
