Guest guest
I am nit due until July but this week coming i am going to wash all my baby things and pack our bags. Your really do not need alot at the hospital since they have it all there. you do not need formula or bottles, they will have that and even send you home with some. They also have diapers so just bring a couple for your trip home. Where i have given birth they do not use wipes, they use wet cotton balls, but i always used them as soon as I got home. Just try to buy the unscented kind or no perfumes added in case of allergic reactions to their sensitive skin. If you are having a boy circumsised(sp) i suggest buying about 2-3 tubes of bacitracin for his penis and some 2 inch guaze pads. When I had the twins they showed me to take care of it that way and they healed so fast. After each daiper changing I would put the bacitracin on it almost like an ice cream cone, just squeeze it on all over the top, too much is okay and then cover it with a couple guaze pads and then put the diaper ther est of the way on. It will look better in a few days. The hospital has ready mixed and maeasured bottles of formula int he hospital that the companies give them to use and supply to us so don't carry all that with you. You could even ask for some to take home until you get to the store. Our hospital used to give us a case on our way out, i think they still do. You do not need alot of outfits either, 2 tops, one for their and one for home. The hospital has all that too but i bring my own too. For you, I am just rbinging a big comfy nightgowns, my owns pads, I hate the hospital kind, plenty of panties and your favorite bras, your shampoo and toothpaste/toothbrush, hair things ( comb/brush/hairties) , your address phone number book, a calling card for any long distance calls, a cross word puzzle book or something like that in case you get bored, a camera and film/video camera,a comfy going home outfit and thats about it I think. if you forget anything the hospital usually has their stuff you can get. good Luck with everything, hope this helps some. Guest guest
Make sure you get night gowns with buttons that open in the front. I used those house coat looking things because it was so much easier to try nursing him that way and it helped keep when I could leave the last buttons undone so they didn't lay against my tummy. You have a lot more control with buttons in the front! Hope that helps. You might want to bring announcements with you to fill out while in the hospital. God knows you don't have much time to do it when you get home!! Also, I brought my son's towel and washcloth for his bath time since I didn't want to use a rough hospital towel. You sound like you have everything you need. I agree about the bottles, diapers, wipes, pacifiers, etc. They provide everything and it gives you a chance to get a few free items anyway. Hee,hee. You are doing just fine!! a
Guest guest
your more than good for the baby...he/she willl mainly stay in those shirts and a diaper all wrapped...unless you want to put it in a onsie...and a going home out fit...of course with the socks and shoes and such...as for you...some gowns and socks and slippers...or jammies...or whatever you will be most comfortable in...as for milk and bottles...no...you dont need to bring anything...they feed the baby on milk there...to see what kind of milk it will need....all babies start off on regular milk w/ iron...and they go from there...but your baby will only be eating about 1 oz. bottle to start until you go home....maybe 2 or 3 once you get home...but the hospital should provide you with some milk and a couple of 1 oz bottles to start...hope this helps Adam & e Gaspard Kay Independent Beauty Consultant www.marykay.com/starbound107 > >Reply-To: OSSG-pregnant >To: OSSG-pregnant >Subject: who is due around mid/late may? have you packed >yet? >Date: Sun, 18 Apr 2004 04:40:58 -0000 > >Hi all > >I was just wondering who was due around the same time as me ? when >did you or when do you plan to pack your bags? ..I washed everything >gosh 3 loads of laundry and he isnt even here yet lol thats not >including his bedding set and a few other things...anyways i packed >my babys bag today, and want to know if I am forgetting anything....I >packed him a pair of jammies, a going home outfit, 2 recieving >blankets, two burp rags, two pairs of socks, 4 onsies (thats because >i got 2 premies and in case those dont fit, i got two new borns), his >shoes, some diapers and wipeys and of course after i wash the binkies >i will put 2 in the bag also..do i need anything else? Guest guest
Hi, I'm having my 3rd child, so I'm totally relaxed this time around. I'm due offically around May 14th but I think I'll go earlier. My perinatologist said around May 4th, but my midwives are sticking to the 14th. Who knows. I just know that baby measured at 7lbs 3 oz at my last ultrasound 8 days ago and that babies gain an average of 1 oz a day in the last few weeks, so we're talking big baby! My other girls were 8lbs 9oz and 8lbs. Hoping she comes really soon, too many painful contractions, too much swelling and just being uncomfortable while still working as a nanny for a 21 month old boy! I'm delivering at a birth center which is on the campus of our hospital. What I packed was a bottle of apple juice so I don't have to have an iv (unless I have to have antibiotics for strep , my phone book, a nightgown of my own to labor in that can get trashed, socks for me for cold feet, a tank top to wear in the birthing tub since there will be many relatives at this birth, a going home outfit with a sweater and hat for our little " Emma " , a hat for her to wear right after birth, a blanket, and 1 pair of socks. If I test positive for Strep B, I will transfere over to the hospital for a 48 hour stay with Emma for observation, if I don't test positive, we will hang out at the birth center for as much as 12 hours and then go home where I can get some real sleep and be taken care of by my husband and parents. My oldest girl will be at the birth, my middle daughter is only 4 1/2 and she is going with my best friend for a few days, will also go with my friend so I can concentrate on resting and nursing our new little one before they come home. Jenn, Mom of 7 1/2, Caroline 4 1/2 and Baby Emma, whenever she gets here.
