Guest guest
Hi Pam, Good luck in your quest, Pam! I know that for me, WLS was definitely what got me pregnant. My hubby and I have been married almost seven yrs now. I have PCOS, severe and wouldn't ovulate. About four and half yrs ago, did the fertility thing, including the highest dose of clomid for double the length of time (10days) on the advice of the fertility Dr. My eggs never got big enough even with the clomid to inject myself and release them. After that, we really just stopped trying, due to many many factors. I had my WLS in May of 2003 and up until Feb of this yr, I had lost 104lb and was into a size 11-12 for the first time in my adult life. My surgeon didn't want us to start trying until at least 9-12 mos post op, so for the first time in our lives together, we used condoms...lol, how ironic...But I heeded Dr H's warnings well, because he told me how the fertility index goes WAY up post op and gave the example of one of his pts who didn't use protection and got preggo 2-3 mos post op. Everything thankfully went okay with her and her baby, but definitely not the ideal situation... Two weeks to the day post op, I got my first period in TWO YRS without having to take provera to stimulate it! I was shocked and stunned and crying in the shower!! Since then, I have had a period every month - granted, its hard to tell when I ovulate, as the periods are anywhere from 20-40 days apart... Well, we were able to start trying in Feb...And miracle upon blessed amazing miracle, I got pregnant THE FIRST TRY....Here I sit, 19 weeks later, still stunned that something so wonderful could happen to me after the crap we have been through together. The surgery has been such a blessing in my life - health wise, self esteem wise and now, leading to my pregnancy.... If it can happen to me, it can happen to anyone, Pam...In fact, I thought it would take at least 6 mos of trying...So, baby Jr will now be born right in the middle of hunting season...My poor hubby! lol.. Take care and best wishes to you! Hugs > Hello all! Everyone here has given me a lot of hope that we will be > successful this time.
