Anyone reading my posts knows I have a few balls in the air. I abruptly

went GFCFSF about 10 weeks ago and ditched fluoridated baby water 8

weeks ago. It seems to me milk is an issue for son as was the water and

very quickly he " woke up. " Still, even before that, some of his

proonunciation on the few words he would say was perfect but he would

lose them. After the dietary stuff he just plain talked more, was more

interactive, lost nearly all of his tone stuff but articulation lagged.

Ever the purist, I was holding fast to diet without really understanding

the role of fish oils and E and thinking we just needed to wait longer

for a die off effect to cause a language surge. Plus, the idea of

regression scared me. Instead we have had peaks and valleys. Many of the

peaks are related to eggs and calcium. One day, in particular, my son

said, I go I go when we were headed outside. It was in direct reponse to

something that was said and he used the G sound which was previously a

difficult thing to make. I directly attributed that to the only thing he

ate that day...eggs and spinach. I have had trouble replicating it with

diet. With the limited fish oil I have given him I have seen sound

improvement (ms and ks) but not a great articulation boost. I think I

may have a clue I did not have before.

The spinach egg thing worked likely because, I did not realize it at the

time, but the eggs I was using at that time were filled with 1000 mg

omega 3 and 25% RDA of E per egg. This happened when we first went

GFCFSF and all he ate more eggs. He has since backed off the omlettes

and mostly eats them in pancakes. The spinach may have been a

coincidence. If it helped it may just be that the kid is likely calcium

deficient. I plan on addressing that with a supplement.

I am in the process of getting a better multi with more E. I am also

going to bump up the fish oil, which, as I now understand it, may

require more E. We'll cross that bridge when we come to it. I still have

metal testing to get back and I think I have to head to the DAN! if for

no other reason than to get a base E plasma level, perhaps a vitamin K

level since I don't see how I can get it another way.

Any thoughts on the theory? Any thoughts on this plan? Any thoughts on

the safest E. (I do know not to get the synthetic)?

Hi Liz,

I may have missed this (sorry if I did) but why are you waiting on

the EFAs and E?

We've been using Country life Natural Vitamin E - It is everything

free EXCEPT soy. So you may have to look further. It's great he's

been responding to dietary Omegas and E. It could mean amazing things

when you supplement.

BTW - we start Casein free this week - or next week. We are going on

vacation at the end of the week for a week and it might be hard to

limit - esp. when we are just starting. We saw our DAN for the first

time today and we are going to start with milk protein and work into

gluten and then maybe soy. We also are doing some baselines for

toxicity, yeast, viruses, fat absorbtion, etc. I liked him a lot he

was open to a lot of ideas.

He is going to take a few weeks to look through some files

(electronic) and see if he has any ideas about 's research (he

is involved in different aspects of different research). We will talk

to him again after the tests come back - about two weeks. After that

we will look at some typical blood work and nutritional analyses.

Given all the research we've all done and shared with each other. I

have to say the appt was anti-climatic for me. I had heard everything

he suggested before - but he was able to hook us up with the correct

labs and then he will be able to interprete the results and work with

us on a 'perscription'. My husband was very enthralled.

Gotta run,

You did not miss much other than I was chicken, then moved to a point of

trying the kids 369 as if it were a sometimes fish meal (still in denial

again I suppose) and saw some improvement. It got too painful to realize

I could help him more and was not. I am over the fear of fish oil and

have moved on to a fear of E yet at the same time since he has none in

his diet I have to supplement. Soy is more my daughter's issue so I may

try Country Life.

I sort of woke up from a fog today (perhaps it is the fish oil I'm now

taking) and realized the following:

1) I have to go to the DAN! I will send the paperwork in tomorrow and

get a starting appt for son. His problems are due to metal ( and God

knows what else but antimony, lead, and aluminum are my top suspects).

Yes the diet is helping, yes supplementation will help but from what I

am seeing more E and fish oil is needed and I need a direct plasma level

of E and guidance on what E to use, how much, etc. I need the hair test

back and I need a doc to do the urine test. That doc is the DAN! No way

around that.

2) I made an appt with Dr. Agin. I need a diagnosis of dyspraxia and if

for some reason he has something that is different from that and I am

all wet, Dr. Agin is still probably the only one I'd trust if they told

me. She will also give me credibility with my pediatrician.

3) I then need to do #1 and #2 with my daughter. #1 is more important at

this juncture so I'll send in her paperwork too. If you look at my posts

I generally say may daughter is NT. She is generally but there are

things that make me wonder. I think the metal test will help me decide

if I am nuts or not. She is getting one too.

Have I mentioned I hate this? I am not freaking as usual. Just a little

pissed that it can't happen tomorrow and have only myself to blame for

the foot dragging.

CF is way easier than GF. I wonder too if the DAN thing will be

anticlimactic. We do cover a lot of ground on the board. I am glad your

husband was happy with it. I really need to work on my presentation

before I see another dr. The impatience and frustration seem to come

through. I may just write a script and let my husband do the talking (as

if I could shut up!).

Any good feedback from the PR guy?

Have an awesome vacation!

Long story but I am first trying sun butter for E. If that fails I am

getting the E you use. There is no soy-free E so I am doing it. Plus, I

don't think he has a soy thing...daughter and I do and I was keeping it

simple.

Email me if you need some recipes (if you knew me before all of this you

would be falling off your chair laughing!). Casein free is the easier of

the two. I did men to ask you, what lab is he using?

I got a massage this week and thought of you and your prudent

instructions to BREATHE! It is now becoming a regular thing. Got to go

tend to the talker:)

Liz - there is a soy-free E d-alpha and d-gamma combo that

uses, but you'll need to look at message number 58892 to see that it

may not work for you. But then again, it may.
