Guest guest
Hi Carole, My name is . I'm on carbimazole, two tables a day. (10mg overall) I have been on this dose for about three weeks and I haven't developed any rash yet. I was on 4 tablets a day before and I had a horrible rash, but the doctor stop the medication because I went hypo. I also have an upset stomach if I don't have my pills with meals, so I have found that having the pill during my meal is best for my stomach. If I have it at the end of my meals I can still get a upset stomach (a burning sensation) I also feel very stressed sometimes because I'm worried about developing eye problems. So far I don't have any problem, just sore eyes sometimes. It is natural that your daughter feels so depressed or in bad moods. I can also be very irritable sometimes and I can't control it. I just started some sort of hipnotheraphy. I read in an article that it may help to reduce your stress levels and improve the inmune system function. I will let you know how I go with my next lab tests. Regards _________________________________________________________________ Hotmail is now available on Australian mobile phones. Guest guest
Hi, just read your post and I had severe pain in my right eye it was like someone was poking a hot needle in it. It was diagnosed as trigeminal neuralgia and after my opthamalogist consulted with my neurologist they increased my neurotin from three daily to four daily and it has helped with even the pain near my temple that I had blamed it on the brain tumor I have on the right frontal lobe. Good Luck and God Bless!!!! Debra Beckmann beckmann@...> wrote:Hi guys,it has been a long time since I posted.Lots going on and some of it not so good. I have had left eye pain for almost a year now and my neuro-ophthalmologist said after the first exam it was not eye related(he had to make certain it was not iritis as I have had that before). He has thought it was migraine related and more recently most positive that it is and that it needs aggressive treatment. While awaiting the neuro appointment my family doctor has ordered Topamax(is this on the mito No-No list?) but the pharmacist filled it and warned my daughter that the physician ordered half a tab for one week then half a tab twice a day HOWEVER, you are not supposed to cut, crush or chew this med and it is not scored. Of course the family doctor is out of town this week. I am at a loss about what to do...if my eye didn't hurt so badly I would forget the whole thing! Guest guest
Topomax shoulb be acceptatble. Dr. Cohen and Dr. Whiteman recommended it for our daughter to help control tics and seizurelike activity. She has been taking it for over a year with no apparent problem. The local neurologist had us break the tablets at the score line when she first started the titration process. --- Debra Beckmann beckmann@...> wrote: > Hi guys,it has been a long time since I posted.Lots > going on and some of it not so good. Guest guest
Debra Topamax was mentioned at the conference as being used more and more with mito - as an alternative to Lamictal and Nerontin. laurie > Hi guys,it has been a long time since I posted.Lots going on and some of it not so good. Guest guest
Severe eye pain can be due to sinus problems, from allergies or an infection. Did your GP rule that out? Breathe Right strips help my sinuses clear out without medication, you could try those. I can't tell you how many people I know who thought they had migraines, and ended up having sinus issues instead. Sinus issues might respond to migraine meds somewhat, as they improve blood flow. Take care, RH > Hi guys,it has been a long time since I posted.Lots going on and some of it not so good. Guest guest
Debra Well I know what I would do, either 1) Try to break a pill as best I could (this only rarely results in more than two roughly equal parts) then crush a one-half-looking piece, or 2) Crush an entire pill and then divide the powder into two roughly equal piles. Take one, and store the other, for the next day or later that day. A slip of wax paper folded around the pile should work for temporary storage. Actually, #2 could be the back-up plan if #1 doesn't work well, on a given day. :-) BUT NOTE the above is predicated on my personal belief, namely that in most cases the dosage doesn't really need to be THAT exact. For instance, I'm guessing that the doc is more or less winging it when he/she suggests half a pill daily for the first week. Why EXACTLY one-half and EXACTLY one week, before going to a higher dose? This is obviously an attempt to up the dose gradually but where the granularity of the " gradually " doesn't have to be precise. To BETTER increase the dose gradually, one could say 1/8 on the first two days, 1/4 on the next two days, 3/8 the next two, and so on. But he/she didn't say that. So my presumption is that the half a day is only an approximation anyway. If (say) 5/8 on one day caused a problem but 1/2 would have been OK, I'd say that THAT would be one DANGEROUS drug, and also it would be criminal for the manufacturer not to have 1/2 STRENGTH single pills just for that usage. I have some tabs for headaches, where the supposed dosage (left over from long-ago issued instructions) was two as needed. But I've discovered that 1/2 (i.e. 1/4 the instructed dosage) works sometimes. So I simply bite the pill, usually getting about half, and then I drop the remains into the bottle for the next time I only want 1/2. YMMV. By the way, I think I know bid = twice a day tid = thrice a day qid = four a day but does anyone know the abbrieviation for ONCE a day?
