Guest guest
Lois I pulled out some old info from the second mito conf. They have Rett as one of the mito diseases such as MEERF, etc. Their thinking might have changed since then. Dr. Haas has written several papers on mito and Rett and autism and mito. I found some of my notes that said that the Rett defect on the X chromosome was the cause of autism in mito patients. I'll see if I can find anything else on-line. I was unale to access the papers by Dr. Haas. It might be a good question for " ask the mito doc " or " ask the MDA doc " . laurie > > > Hi, this is aka punky's mom, I asked about rett and mito Monday night, > if you don't mind, I have a question for you. Guest guest
Laurie, Thank you so much for your help. That's a good idea to ask the doc, I've never done that. Our neuro seems to know a lot more about mito than rett, so he may be on the right path, unfortunately I have to second guess him a lot. We pushed on the fresh biopsy with Shoffner, and I think he was amazed at how extensive he is in his testing. He told us that if it wasn't for " our fancy biopsy " we would have never suspected the rett also. Any idea where Dr. Haas practices? If this is something that he is interested in I would love to contact his office. Thanks so much, that is much more than I have found on my own.
