I have not posted here yet- I am a " lurker " , but have gotten much

information and support here already.

So here's my info:

1). GingerF

2). Ellicott City, MD

3). 1 daughter, : 13 months old, now 12 pounds- 11 ounces, 25

inches (working diagnosis of RSS since shortly after birth -nothing

official yet).

4). Born at 31.5 weeks (8.5 weeks premature) due to my severe pre-

eclampsia, her IUGR/SGA, and poor placental perfusion. Weight at

birth was 2 pounds 2.9 ounces, she was 14 & 1/4 inches long.

5). is currently not on any meds. She was on Zantac for

reflux, but we are doing a trial period off the med now.

6). has her 1st appointment with an endocrinoligist Dr.Reiner

on Monday, she has been seen by Dr. Wulfsberg at University of MD

Genetics several times.

7). She was about 1 month old when they brought up the subject of

RSS and she was seen by Dr. Wulfsberg at that time who wanted

to " watch " to see if she outgrew the features they were concerned

about. We go back to him again in May. The hope was that her SGA was

due to my BP issues, however she has not had the catch-up growth

they want, so off to the Endocrinologist.

It's been so nice to meet everyone so far. I look forward to getting

to know each of you. Thank you for sharing your journey with me.

Hi Ginger,

Your email, points 1-5, are mirroring my life. My daughter is now

7. If you and your husband are not very tall, the endo may say wait

and- see... unless there is more evidence. For years they told us

you are 5 3 your husband 5 10 and she is not going to be tall

anyway.

Jua was born at 31 weeks, about 14 inches long, was just over 2 lbs,

had a left refulx, and stayed on bactrin to insure she had no

recurring episode of urinary tract infection.

IF your daughter does not have catch up growth within the fist two

years you need to stay close to this group as there is a wealth of

information here for you. None of it very scary! But... there are

things you need to keep pace with so when you go to the doctor you

have more background information to query them with.

Just so you do not worry, they say babies born at 31 weeks are very

bright. When ita began to multiply at age 5 I began to believe

the rumor. There may be bright things ahead!
