Guest guest
Someone mentioned a relationship between zinc and tteeth grinding. I looked into it further and found this: http://www.vegsoc.org/info/zinc.html And wrote this to a good friend, my cousin doc and my husband. Since I am flying blind here and my only true knowledge is history and what they and I ate, I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts? A couple of thoughts on this one: A zinc/copper imbalance causes hair loss. may have too much copper and not enough zinc and that caused initial slow hair growth and later hair loss. Same for . The reason I say too much copper is it could be genetic...red hair is actually copper coming out. (I think that is right as a pharmacist told me red highlights are a sign oof copper excess). Most peoples base hair color is brown (that one I got from the hair guy)...mine is...if I show you the hair underneath it is plain old brown. This explains a lot because in the zinc/copper ratio was likely off: 1) because of not enough zinc in diet and 2) what she had was lost because the amount of whole wheat intake caused it to not get absorbed. Same for but in guys it is worse and causes delays. This could (no way of knowing) be why some kids appear to grow out of speech delays...if the diet changes subtly, etc. The wacked out immune system stuff makes sense and since we have only seen improvements the diet stays. It may not be a life sentence though. Genetic testing will help us sort that out. The dr. on the board, , suggested checking zinc and copper levels and the new pediatrician said it was not necessary but he might check it later attached to other labs. He said the hair loss would be diffuse. Unfortunately he never saw it...it was exactly that...what is called a moth eaten pattern aside from the three bare spots. All that was gone when we saw him as we were on the diet for a while by then. I will check it on my own if need be but since supplementing involves other risks (what else is in there, etc.) I am going to simply add zinc in as a diet priority. These kids will eat anything I sneak into a pancake (today it was tomatoe, pumpkin seeds, banana and applesauce and they ate a double batch). Plus, I think legitimately likes hummus.
