Guest guest Posted February 9, 2005 Report Share Posted February 9, 2005 , We put pipe insulation our ours and then I made a few covers that wrap around and have velcro so I can wash them. The are just squares with velcro on each end. I can't recall what size our pipe insulation is, I just took the bar to Home Depot and wrapped them around until I found the right size. I think it was about 6 feet long, maybe longer, and under $2. I know others do this to and one Mom makes covers for others and mails them out. I am sure she will write to you too. Good luck! Guest guest Posted February 9, 2005 Report Share Posted February 9, 2005 -We also use a pipe insulation. There was only one size at our local hard ware store. Then I just cut the fabric a little bigger tuck it in the ends and along the seam and use clear tape wrapped around each end to hold it on. It is easy to just cut off and redo if the fabric gets dirty. I have also heard that bike handle bar covers work great if you can find them. But it's pretty basic, at least for me. I use a piece of pipe foam from the hardware store (pipe insulation) and black athletic cloth tape. I cut the foam under the shoes to fit so the foam goes all the way to the end of the bar (covers the nuts/screws) and tape it all up with the athletic tape. I reinforce the ends (standing on the nut tends to wear through the foam quickly) with a couple of layers of tape, tape all along the bottom and over the top so it stays closed. ugly but functional.
