Guest guest
I have broke mine too by tightening them too much. All I did was took the broken ones to an orthotics shop where markell shoes are sold. The shop then sent the broken clips to markell and markell sent new ones free. While I was waiting I just put the gray type of tape around the brace to hold it together. It worked great. I believe you can just mail the clips to markell and they will send new ones also. Guest guest
, An alternative would be to go to your local auto parts or hardware store and purchase automotive hose clamps. They're little metal rings that can be tightened down to clamp on the bar. We never used this- but I think some of 's prior posts have stated that this was actually what was originally used on the bar prior to the introduction of the black clamps (circa 1999). Good luck! > > I have broke mine too by tightening them too much. All I did was > > took the broken ones to an orthotics shop where markell shoes are > > sold. Guest guest
I can't believe that attitude. Those clips are quite easy to over-tighten. They should change the design or at least supply them free of charge when they. When we broke one in the early days of using them, at US orthotics mailed 4 spares free of charge to my sister in Florida. They took a few days to get to her and in the meantime we used a bit of tape to keep bar together... www.clubfoot.co.za Re: I can't get any help from any orthos I call I am so mad Hi thean you for your response. Guest guest
Okay this is whats going on ordered the ones from markell for 8.00 plus shipping and he wouldn't tell me the total because he didn't know how much it would be in weight. They don't weigh very much. Dr.Dobbs contacted me as well as a and were very apologetic and they are sending me 2 free ones in the mail. I guess I should of waited instead of jumping in and buying them but I was getting at the end of my rope on what to do. They have never broken on me before. So I will get 2 free ones and 2 paid ones. Guest guest
Contact Jay Markell. Use the info addy on their website www.markellshoe.com . I'm sure they sell the fillauer bar and have those clips. In the meantime, try an automotive hose clamp. I've heard those work in a pinch. Can't you call Shriners brace shop and have them send you a set? I know our Shriners send parts to parents, they offered once to send me something and I only live 5 miles away. Guest guest
I had the same problem. Someone on here told me you could call the manufacturer to get new clips. Hope that helps. Maybe someone else knows the number. > > Hi all, > > Haven't posted in awhile. I am so mad right now. Isabella sees > Dr.Dobbs at shriners in St.Louis we live 2 hours away. Guest guest
Is this the black loop that holds the two pieces of bar so they can slide/adjust to different lengths? If so, I would think you could repair that yourself with a drill and a screw. If not, then I am not sure what part you're referring to. s. I can't get any help from any orthos I call I am so mad Hi all, Haven't posted in awhile. I am so mad right now. Isabella sees Dr.Dobbs at shriners in St.Louis we live 2 hours away. Well the black clips on her brace came loose and broke while we were tightening them up. We barely put any force on them and they broke. I have called every ortho around here just to get a set of black clips and they kept telling me know we can't do that. I called Dr.Dobbs office at childrens and his nurse said no you have to call shriners and make an appointment with them we don't use any shriners brace. I said its the same DBB as everywhere else well Dr.Dobbs uses a new one now that he came up with I am thinking HELLO I am sure they still have the black clips to hold the bar together. I even called Dr.Ponsetti His secretary wasn't there so someone else answered and man she was rude to me. Why are they being like this just for the black clips on the bar? I honestly don't want to drive 2 hours for these clips. Can anyone help me locate some? Thank you Mommy to Isabella bilateral cf
Guest guest
, we've broken our clamps a bunch of times too! Everytime I go in to order new shoes, I get the orthotics guy to order me about 4 clamps at that same time - I think I pay something like $20 for the clamps. Anyway, already mentioned that you can use automotive hose clamps (from any hardware store)- they work well! Good luck! Guest guest
Yes it is the black pieces that you can slide to adjust the bar. I was going to glue them with welders glue but I can't pull it apart to get the glue in there. I honestly don't know how to do it with a drew and screw driver. I have pipe insulation covering them so they are protected. I mean this is the first set that has broke in her whole 2 years of life. I did drop an email to Jay Markell and asked him why they were so expensive to buy from them. I hope he emails me back. > Is this the black loop that holds the two pieces of bar so they can slide/adjust to different lengths? Guest guest
Ours stripped, so I don't know how a screwdriver would have helped. I've been told by orthotists that they keep a ton of these in stock because they break so easily, they even gave us a few when we left Iowa, along with the spanner and other tools! Guest guest
, I see you received lots of help already, but for the future, I would recommend just contacting Dr. Dobbs directly. Guest guest
Thank you everyone for all your help. I have contacted Dr.Dobbs by email. He is a great doctor we have been with him for many years. Shriners is suppose to send me some black clamps and I also before I heard back from Dr.Dobbs and a already gave Markell all my info and they charged my card already so I have those coming as well. Which I don't mind now because I can always use a spare until she goes back in May. I appreciate everyone who emails Fillauer we really need to speak up and get these defective clamps revamped. Guest guest
I just thought maybe in a pinch you could drill a hole through both bars and bolt them together at that point. Obviously if you can get the replacement clip that would be better! LOL! s. I can't get any help from any orthos I call I am so mad > > > > > Hi all, > > Haven't posted in awhile.
