Guest guest
I hate velcro shoes too. Always have. If I put shoes on the child, I mean for them to stay. If you want sandals for girls, I always default to the Saltwaters. Heck, I default to saltwaters for boys too. I love a little girl in Saltwater Sandals, and they've got some really cute ones in the Sun Sand line that are strappy and very nice looking. If you want, I know Nordstrom will order in shoes and you should be able to get the other styles. Or just order online. Oh, here's some cute boys sandals! This isn't their site, but I searched and this exemplifies the standard Saltwater and the one below is new to me, very cute. http://www.tcsag.com/cs/countryStore/cs/footwear/sandals.html They have no arch. It's a very flat shoe. But it's made to hold up, and true to it's name does very well in water. I don't know about the durability of the other lines which are prettier, they're made a little different but the Saltwaters are sewn into the rubber sole all the way through to the bottom, and the straps are made to stay sewn to the shoe after significant abuse due to water. They will last multiple children. I wore them as a kid and my kids wear them out on the boat and beach, at home.... all summer. My boys had matching shiny lime green Saltwaters even - they're so cute! I'll post a pic to the CFPics list. For girls, there's nothing cuter than a dress and Saltwaters. They have a pearlized pink that I'm dying to have - which is sad because I've lived my life post 8yo hating pink! But having a girl... well, she looks great in pink and I gave into that pretty soon after she was born lol. Easter and pink or white Saltwaters is pretty common here in rain and river land. The Rosebud (white with flowers) is also cute. OK - this is a hard site to find so bookmark it if you like it (note to self... bookmark the site Kori...). I've ended up searching for this site numerous time and each time it's near impossible to find the Hoy website versus all these other places that sell these online. But at this site, you'll be able to see all the different styles and then search out the best price online. http://www.saltwater-sandals.com/index.html You should also be able to get the standard Saltwaters and some of the Sun San's at Fred Meyer. They usually have a sale in the spring when you can get them for about $18. I can pick you up a pair at Nordstrom too, have them order them in for special styles. I want mary janes with buckles, those aren't to easy to find either. Time for me to decide if Darbi is going to wear her brothers green, yellow, blue, tan, or white saltwaters hanging around the house or if she's going to get a pink or rosebud pair for herself lol... What size is he wearing? I'd send you some of mine, but I lose shoes a lot and sometimes I just need shoes and who cares what color they are as long as they fit. Nice thing about having boys first, girls can wear all their stuff and not look as bad as a boy in pink sandals would hehe. Guest guest
First, let me say you rock! I don't like the price ... I'm more a Payless kind of girl when I can be ... but if it is the only way to get a decent sandal WITH buckles and WITHOUT 2 inch heels (who the heck ever thought of putting 2 inch heels on todler size shoes?!?) then I guess I will do what I gotta do. They really should update their site tho ... that Nordstroms hasnt existed in Yakima for years lol I will have to check out Fred Meyer. And yeah! The boy's sandals are actually cute! Tom might let me get a pair of those for Kai (he HATES the standard brown boys sandal). Kai is wearing a size 5.5, just behind Arica's 6.5 He seems pretty determined to outgrow her very soon. As for the lack of arch, PERFECT for Caitlen, who doesnt have one! I was going to get her some Faded Glory birkenstock-style sandals, but she said the arch support hurt her feet. I have sympathy since arch support kills my feet. And can someone tell me whatever happened to the good old white leather patents?? WITH buckles and minimum heel? We found one pair at Wal-Mart, and they were of course the wrong size. *sigh* I guess it will be sandals for Easter again this year ... which considering that we are having record-breaking temperatures, isnt a bad thing! By the way, once I get batteries for my camera I will send thru the photos on CFPics of the ash on my Durango from last week. We are so clueless that we did not even know the dang mountain had thrown a fit until after midnight when a visiting friend told us! Angel Re: A little OT: shoes and velcro I hate velcro shoes too. Guest guest
Angel. I just picked up a pair of white patent mary-jane style shoes at Target. They are super cute! There is no heel, the strap is velcro of course, but since these aren't everyday shoes, hopefully it won't be an issue. wore them yesterday for her Dedication, and she got tons of compliments. Actually, I think it was the cute dress, LOL! PS. The shoes were $9.99. Shook Retail Operations Manager/Baking Instructor Vie de France Yamazaki, Inc. 2070 Chain Bridge Rd. Guest guest
Lands End still uses buckles on their little girls shoes. The prices are a little high, but the shoes are very well made. I noticed their standard Janes appear to be on clearance on the website (no new colors for spring, a limited variety of sizes and at $17 a steal compared to the $34 I've seen them for before). The boys don't have much of a selection, sandals appear to have velcro, although one style looks like it has plastic buckles to help keep the shoes fastened. > I have been looking high and low for sandals and dress shoes for my girls and I will be danged if anyone uses buckles anymore! > > The problem I have is that sandals with velcro come unhooked, then the child trips on them, shoe falls off, at best you have to put the shoe back on, at worst kid hurts ankle and elbow in the trip/fall.
