Guest guest
Liz, Here' my 2 cents- Dr. Ponseti is unlikely to be able to recommend any doctors except those listed on his qualified physician's list. It's worth emailing him about in case he does have some doctors whose names just haven't been added to the website yet- but odds are that he won't know of any in your area. That list is really his only way of " recommending " doctors and it's up to the individual doctors themselves to submit the necessary paperwork to actually get on the list in the first place (reminder to everyone else- if your doc is not on the list but should be, encourage them to contact the U of Iowa and get on it!). Many doctors get trained in the method (in Iowa and elsewhere) and are doing it correctly, but unless they submit the paperwork, they don't get on the list. Personally, I would suggest that your daughter contact the group of doctors in Atlanta and also Dr. Frick in Charlotte to ask them if they know of anyone in your region that they've consulted with or personally trained regarding the Ponseti method. Off the top of my head, I think these two listed groups are the closest to you geography- wise....perhaps there are others as well. She might want to consult with them about their services also in case she/you cannot find any other doctors that she's comfortable with in the meantime. I hope this helps! Guest guest
I am sorry that I can't help you with the doctor. Hopefully someone will be familiar with a doctor. You could try calling or emailing Dr. Ponseti, I think he has gotten at least one call from everyone here!. He would be able to give you information about drs. There may not be one very close, but after the initial casting period, you don't have to go as often, so traveling a little further isn't so bad. Hope this, or someone else, helps! Doctors in Knoxville Tn. area ..? Thanks so much everyone for the help on my last post about cribs (I have a feeling as soon as my granddaughter is born in April I will be giving this site a real workout)! My daughter's baby girl has been diagnosed with bilateral clubfoot - she's due April 16. We are still looking for qualified doctors in the Knoxville area. She posted this question back when she first learned of the baby's problem and no one was familiar with any doctors in this area. We know about the site that lists qualified doctors across the country and according to it there are none listed for this area. (I had hoped maybe there were more doctors and the list just hadn't been updated). I just thought I'd check back again and see if anyone new has come on board who might have some info on docs in this area. Thanks again .... Guest guest
Liz, I know it is a little far, over 400 miles, but Dr. Dobbs in St. Louis is soooo good, it would be worth it to travel to see him. There is a Mc house right near Children's Hospital where he practices here. He also practices at Shriner's Hospital where all the care is free. > > Thanks so much everyone for the help on my last post about cribs (I > have a feeling as soon as my granddaughter is born in April I will be > giving this site a real workout)! Guest guest
I have to second 's recommendation of Dr. Dobbs in St. Louis. We've been seeing him for 3 1/2 years now and if I moved or he moved I would drive that much farther to see him. (We liv in KY.) Guest guest
Hi Liz, I look forward to hearing about the birth of your Granddaughter! If it comes to it, there are certified drs. in Atlanta and Charlotte. I know it is not the most desirable, but people travel from abroad to see Dr. P so maybe a weekly road trip for 5-7 weeks and then check ups would be worth it for correct treatment the first time. I made it from Knox to ATL airport in less than 4 hours once and the airport is probably another 30 minutes further than the drs. office. I also believe the have a satellite office in Marietta or Kennesaw which are both North of ATL on the I75 corridor. Guest guest
I guess I should have read this before I replied. Sorry for the repeat.
