Guest guest
Hi Leah, Sounds like it was an overall positive experience and you found a new Dr too! Congratulations. On Olivia's skin tears - if she has to have tape on her skin again, especially on her face to hold tubes in, ask the Dr or nurse to use duoderm under the tape. It is a pectin based barrier that is very gentle on skin and prevents the tape touching the skin. When a breathing tube (endotracheal tube) is used, they have to use strong, very adhesive tape to make sure it doesn't easily peel away from the skin. It's a safety issue. I've used duoderm for years on preemies who have very sensitive and friable skin. It's also good to put under tape to hold a naso gastric tube in place. hope Olivia's skin heals fast!
