8-10 weeks, so I don't have an appointment for a month.

Is this unusual? I mean, shouldn't I be on pre-natal vitamins, etc? It just

seems like they would want me in there asap.

Thanks in advance!

Congrats !!

It seems to pretty normal the 8-10 week for first visit.

I am not taking pre natals.. but the chewable Flintsones with iron.

I take 2 vits 3x a day.. but I am almost 5 months post op...

If you have been " lax " in your vitamins.. become religious about them.. :)

As far as the " prenatals " go.. they really are a scam... at least the script

ones.

I was comparing my script vit's (from my last pg) to my Flintstones with Iron

(2 tabs).

The flinstones had MORE of the Folic and Iron and the same of everything

else.. :)

AND they are easier to take :)

I would take extra calcium.. but not with your Iron vits.. :)

Other then that... try to resist the cravings (yea RIGHT!) and drink LOTS of

water.

, like I preface alot of my answers, I'm not a doctor. But I didn't see my

gyno until then and it's fine. that's only 2-3 months pregnant and that's when

most people are only finding out they are pregnant. So, relax, eat healthy and

the baby will take what he/she needs.

One thing I want to add,

You should supplement the vitamins with folic acid. Most regular vitamins

don't have as much folic acid as the prenatals and folic acid is extremely

important for proper fetal development. So continue taking your regular

vitamins but add folic acid supplements.

most OB's now wait til 8-10-12 weeks pregnant before seeing patients

because most miscarriages happen within that time frame and it saves

the mother some heartache b/c she hasn't gotten to hear a heartbeat,

or see the baby on the US monitor and she's not officially been seen

to be declared pregnant (this is what a couple of the OB's have told

me that I work with). That being said, you do need to start your

vitamin regimen NOW, not until you see the OB. FOllow the advice of

the 3 posts before this one about what, how many etc etc etc and

things should be fine!

My ob-gyn took me in at about 6 weeks because I told him about my

surgery and they wanted to get me started on the vitamins and stuff

early, plus I pushed the issue....however this ended up being more a

pain in the butt than anything, they sent me in for an ultrasound

immediately and the tech at the ultrasound place couldn't find a

heartbeat or anything because it was still too early, therefore they

had to put me down as a questionable pregnancy and I ended up having

to go back for a second ultrasound 3 weeks later just to confirm the

pregnancy etc etc. The biggest reason this was an issue was because

before each ultrasound I was required to drink 32 oz of liquid in an

hour...no mean feat for anyone post op as I am sure you know. There

ended up being so much confusion as to my due date because of the

separate ultrasounds and stuff. Bottom line if the doctor says to

wait until you are about 8 weeks they usually have a good reason...I

agree with the other replies however, there is no reason that you

cannot start yourself on a good vitamin schedule right now. Best of

luck to you!
