Guest guest
Well, I got some bad news yesterday at the dentist. my toothache had gotten worse over the last week to the point I couldn't chew or sleep more than an hour without it waking me up. After 2 quick xrays (with only 1 lead blanket I read after I got home I should have asdked for two of them The doc said my older fillings are failing and decay has gotten under them. at least one root canal maybe two. All she could do was a temp medicated filling which at least made the pain go away thank goodness. but most of the work has to wait til my second trimester. Now I was told after my RNY by our surgeon's group not to take aspirin, ibuprofen, or tylenol. and being pregnant I can't take stronger stuff. what do folks do for aches and pains? Ayway I am trying not to wrry too much about the lidocaine they had to give me to do the tep filling, but a few articles online do hint that it can cause problems. Am I worrying for nothing? Guest guest
The only non-prescrip pain reliever my WLS doc told me was acceptable to take, post surgery, was Tylenol. Tylenol is safe during pregnancy also. My OBGyn prescibed Tylenol 3 to help with severe aches and pains and migrains, but I found that any time I took it I would get severe back spasms and my pouch and intestines were in agony for hours, even after only taking a half a tablet (maybe a reaction to the codeine). I'm sure others have a better experience with prescip pain relievers. I would talk with your OB or have your dentist speak with her/him so they can get you the right meds. There are some good options out there.
