Guest guest
Daiga, Thanks for the info, I think the other style number might be closed toe boots? It's difficult to know for sure because we don't hear anything from Markell about the bigger sizes availability in open toe shoes. The local orthotist is very frustrated. He told me that he orders bigger shoes with every shipment from Markell, but they never arrive. is the oldest 'Ponseti child' in SA, but there are many more children now that will need bigger shoes too sometime. I think I'll email Iowa and ask about availability. If necessary I'll have to buy them from there and have them shipped out to South Africa! and Moss Steps Charity www.steps.org.za Re: 3 year old-questions, questions, > questions! > > > > I think Markell's go to either size 8 1/2 or 9. is still in > his brace also. > > Pam and (8-12-01)
Guest guest
, Email Jay at info@.... He also reads the list so maybe he'll see this thread too. He'll be able to tell you the availability of the larger sizes better than Iowa since he's in charge out there in Yonkers, NY. Have you taken your trip to the states yet? I remember something about you asking about NYC right? If you haven't, and it's soon... Yonkers (where Markell is) is a suburb of NYC close in to Manhattan... Maybe you could pick your new shoes up at the factory? :~} Kori (who'se only experience with Yonkers is passing over it on the train in '88 but I loved the name so I remember it well lol!) Guest guest
Kori, Thanks, I'll email him and post any reply I get here. No we're not planning a trip right now, but we know NYC well because friends of ours stayed there for 6 years. I've also been through Yonkers, because they lived in White Plains which is nearby! Wasn't there a movie called 'Lost in Yonkers'?! Talking about names, what about Hackensack and Nyack which aren't too far from Yonkers! Guest guest
would you believe there's a town called " Boring " about 5 miles from me? And I'm in the big city here lol! Kori (and yes, it's kinda boring there... but what small suburb isn't as compared to the city?) Guest guest
, Thank you, I have forwarded this different style number to the orthotist in case he's been ordering the bigger sizes on the other number. I wonder why they're different if they're the same shoe only bigger? Yes, I was thinking of using US orthotics in Iowa as you suggested. Only thing is they can only mail in the US, so I'll have to have it couriered to us by a friend. It's definitely easier and cheaper if they are available directly from our local supplier. With him being the oldest South African Ponseti patient we're kind of the pioneers in everything, if we can sort out the shoe problem here, then everyone else can get them locally too. It's a couple of months before will need bigger shoes so I'm hoping the problem is sorted out before that! Take care and www.clubfoot.co.za Moss Steps Charity www.steps.org.za Re: Markell bigger sizes I just looked at Claire's Markell shoe boxes.. The size 7s and 8s are style number 2644, which is a different number (I hadn't noticed that before.) But the style is the same.. open toe, straight last, strap, padded heel, etc.. just like the smaller sizes. I can't see a difference. , you could probably order them through American Prosthetics and Orthotics at the Hospital in Iowa, couldn't you? Since was a patient there? That's how I've always gotten the shoes.. either picking them up when I'm there, or by ordering over the phone with a credit card, and they mail them to me. Guest guest
As Everett hits the home stretch to his 2nd birthday I hear my dh tell people Evy can stop wearing it when he's 3 and I always butt in to say, well, maybe 4. MY goal is the full four years and I know if dr. Ponseti says 4 years, shoot if he said 6 years my dh would comply - but if the dr. doesn't recommend it I fear having dh resistance at the 3 year mark. s.
