Our son was born prematurely 2mos early. He was in the NICU only 2wks

they said he'd be in until his due date -- he met goals and pushed his

way out of NICU. Early Intervention along with 3 other nurses came

home with us. Helping with me with the feeding and him with his

development etc. Our son to back up a bit had a rough time during preg

and in the delivery hence he was on ventilator in beginning. At 16wks

dev I had an abruption so large they couldn't measure it. I was then

placed on complete bedrest until delivery. I also developed

pre-eclampsia, placenta previa and gest diab all during the preg then

to abrupt again during delivery. When son was born his APGAR was a 2

then 45 mins later was a 6. They repaired me for and hr 1/2. I said

all this because now we're still receiving EI and will be

transitioning in the fall to the preschool level of therapy. Our son

now uses about 50 words if that and is just beginning to combine

words. He will be 3 in June. He has lots of sensory issues, hence we

still have to rely on baby food at times because other foods and their

textures are issues with him. He has physical weakness and receives

therapy for Physical and Occupational. He also has a speech therapist

that comes 2x a wk. The physical therapist comes 1x a wk but has been

now approved for 2x a wk. The occupational therapist comes 1x a wk

has asked for an increase in time to 2x wk yet they did not approve.

Son has for last 4-5wks began to bang head in crib against side and

the mattress. Will also drop to the floor and bang head to floor or

will use head as battering ram and ram into me about knocking me to

the floor. I'm really concerned with his safety...yet they don't see

the need to increase his OT. I don't know what to do about this -- we

have a meeting coming up -- would like some input. If you don't want

to post here please e'mail me....
