Guest guest
I honestly don't know. I think the sole is more important than the height of the ankle. Guest guest
I have been told that it does not matter, just make sure they fit well. However, from my experience, my daughter did better in high topped shoes. I was so anxious for her to walk!! She was cruising starting in Oct. ( she was 10 months) so I thought she would walk by her first birthday. Well, she didn't walk until February 27th. I was kind of freaking out a little bit because she wasn't walking. She's in the brace 16 hours a day. She would walk, just not on her own. Then she spotted these shoes on a doll of my mom's. (My mom collects antique dolls). The shoes were the old fashioned button up the side kind. They are high topped, and a soft leather sole, not slippery. My daughter pointed to these shoes that were on this doll, and stuck her foot in the air. So of course my mom obliged and put the shoes on her. She walked across the floor unassisted that afternoon. So I don't know if they gave her enough support, or it was a fashion thing. Even at 16 months she is a bit of a fashion maven. I had previously bought her some mary jane's but she doesn't keep them on her feet. I am so happy she is walking now. For the first couple of days, she would walk better in the shoes than without them, but now she is walking like she has been doing it for months. She is even starting to run. So I had better luck with ankle support shoes. Amy & Gwyneth 12/05/03 rt club foot Dobbs brace 16 hours Re: Confused about my baby shoes-added ?
