Guest guest
If someone chooses to deliver in a hospital...that's their choice. if someone chooses to deliver at home...that's their choice. Looking at statistics...in a low risk mom (which most women are), homebirths are SAFER than hospital births. The odds of something going wrong at home that the transfer makes a difference in the outcome is so rediculously small that it's hardly worth mentioning unless you DO live somewhere that's an hour plus away from the nearest hospital (and in that case I'd think that a planned homebirth would absolutely be safer considering you'd probably have a trained professional able to get to you in 10-20 minutes instead of an hour drive to a hospital). Every hospital transfer of a planned homebirth I've ever been to got them into surgery (if necessary) as fast as if they'd been in the hospital - you call it in...and during transfer the team is assembled (just like if a cesarean is necessary in the hospital, they still have to assemble the team).
