A developmental diagnosed him with severe oral/verbal apraxia, sensory integeration disorder & hyptonia..She recommended I start him on Pro-EFA's and Pro-EPA's ..I've since added Carnaware & High Gamma Vitamin E..(natural). He received Speech at our local school (Language Delay program) 3x a week and privately we took him to SLP 2x a week (1/2 hr sessions). Today, @ 5 y.o. he speaks in sentences..he is 80% intelligible when he slows himself down. He cannot speak in fluent dialogue..but we are working on that. He got reevaluated this month and she said that his Apraxia has now turned to Dyspraxia. ( I thought they were the same thing but she says that Apraxia essentially means one is without speech). He has other fine motor issues that fit Dyspraxia better. Always, always keep a positive attitude. Don't overly push him to speak.. Make a big deal whenever he says anything correctly. My son has one thing that is extremely important: a HIGH SELF ESTEEM. He has never shown feelings of inadequacy to date.
