Guest guest
Hi Alison...hope you don't mind my butting in! Jakes diet sounds fine to me. I'm not a doc but I reckon you can whip that tube out asap! you'll probably find he eats even better! Our daughter Imogen who is now 6 had the tube from 16 months- 3 years...and that was because she ate NOTHING.She started eating in her third year...our consultant asked us to leave the tube in (but not use it) for 3 months to moniter her weight incase she lost...but she didn't....so we got rid of it. And yes, she's a picky eater...but a lot of ordinary kids are too...she likes to eat mini pizzas, cheese, weetabix, fishfingers, crisps, spaghetti bolognaise, tangerines, bananas, and she would live entirely off ketchup if I would let her! We absolutley hating the 'tie' literally of the tube...tho I can understand how it can be a comfort......but listen to your Dr H!!! He eats: cheese, crackers, eggplant, meatballs, cereal, cream cheese, butter, pancakes, chicken nuggets, fries, stouffer's macaroni and cheese, spaghetti, english muffins, bagels, turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, rice, fish sticks, crab cakes. His teacher has been able to get him to eat corn, peas, carrots, green beans (but only one or two of each at a sitting). He loves gravy, dipping sauces and ketchup......so often we try to disguise food that way. I know I am forgetting a few items, but that is the bulk of it. Not the healthiest diet.......but that is when I am thankful that he has a feeding tube and I can pump in a nutrious liquid diet at night!!!!! (Actually Dr. H mentioned last summer, that if he kept up his weight he might be able to get it in the near future soon......I looked at her like she was crazy and she said, " OK Mom, we will leave it in until you are ready for it to come out! " It was funny! I think of it as his lifeline, and the thought of it coming out scares me! I can't wait to hear how Jordan does on gh. I am sure you are looking forward to your next appointmnent with Dr. H. Alison > Hi Alison, just out of curiosity what types of foods is Jake eating? Guest guest
Hi all, To stick my 2 cents in... also loves gravy and ketchup. The problem is, if I put ketchup on his plate he will dip his french fries in it and then lick off the ketchup without ever eating the food!! Actually, he has hardly eaten in about 3 days now due to being sick. Thank god for that pump!
