Guest guest
- Hi kate I just wanted to comment on this subject I don't have RSS but my son does ,but we didn't know it till he was 3 which was a little more than 1 year and a 1/2 ago, anyway .. I was born very tiny also 4 lbs 14 ozs. and I always remember being tiny so petite and I remember my mom always telling me to get her stuff and help and I would climb up on the countertops and help her reach stuff for she is only 4ft 11 at age 60 I remember in school I had the top locker and could barley reach it and a really tall guy had the bottom one and boy what I wanted to do to trade with him but he was to afraid to ask and I did so we ended up trading and it sure did help out alot!! Well all I am saying is I am glad I have this experience of being short to help me with but I still get sad because I know how mean people and kids are ,but at least I know how to help him deal with it!! I think we need some shorter guys out here!!! Like you said about the stools my does the same thing he will drag the stool around for everything and to reach light switches he came up with his own neat idea he uses my wooden back scratcher!!!I think it is so neat watching him learn how to invent new ways to help his shortness instead of doing everything for him he figures things out for himself and I feel like this gives him independence!!! I just wanted to comment on that I liked what you wrote !! I used to could wear the kids clothes HA HA Until I had kids that is.... not happening now!! NO WAY!!! HE HE I wish I could fit back in those 12 and 14 and size 1 oh what I would do!! Guest guest
Hi Kate, My oldest child, , is non-RSS, but only stands 4' 10 " tall, and she would say she's had the same experiences with being short, that you've had. It's really evident when she and her cousin get together. They are only 7 weeks apart in age, but stands 6' 4 " ! LOL She was bigger at birth, but it didn't take him long to out do her! LOL People are always mentioning just how " short " she is, like she doesn't know it! LOL We always told her that her height makes that " ocean of guys " all that much larger! LOL Kids made fun of her height, or lack of it, but then again, my 17 yr old gets made fun of for being heavy, and my 14 yr old gets made fun of for being skinny! That's just being a teenager! Thanks for your reassuring email. All my research shows that if you handle the complications that go with RSS, like the GI problems, hypo-g, feeding problems, etc... your kids can grow up to be absolutely " normal " except for height, and GHT can help with that. As parents/g-parents, we just have to stay on top of the situation. Thanks again!
