I am waiting for the doctors office to open to call and bring him in. The cold that his sister had is something worse in him. He hasn't eaten in 2-3 days. Thank god for his pump! Before surgery, this would have been a trip to the hospital. Hope gets better quickly. She'd just lie on the floor with a cushion and a blanket and it worried the life out of me. But she always bounced back...just as will do! It is heartbreaking to see a child so lethargic and you don't know what to do to help him. We were fortunate this holiday - Max was not sick! Every year except this year and one other, Max has either been in the hospital or the ER or the doctor's office with some illness. Then again, he was sick over Thanksgiving (in the hospital), so I guess he got it out of his system then! Keep an eye on your little guy. If he does not improve, if he is not having wet diapers, if he has ketones, then you have to call the doctor. He can get dehydrated very easily. Oh - a thought. Have you tried just giving him a teaspoon or two of Pedialyte every 15 minutes? We used to do that with our daughter when she had a stomach bug. Thank God we haven't had to deal with anything other than 2 ear infections with . We keep him pretty sheltered. He does get to go to Grandma and Grandpa's, but no stores or any place like that. I even hate taking him to his peds. office. I am so paranoid. ) The thing is, like you, I know how just the mildest sicknesses affect our kids. I have learned a lot about that from this site and I am thankful. I have always been cautious, but I am doubly so with ! ) I hope bounces back to his old self again soon. Everyone on here is so helpful, you know if you have a question or concern, just ask! I read Jodi Zwain's post. That was a good thought about the teaspoon of pedialyte every fifteen minutes. Guest guest Posted December 26, 2003 Report Share Posted December 26, 2003 Dear Jodi and everyone, Well, ended up in the ER last night. (Merry Christmas to us!) As you have all recommended, I was keeping watch on his Ketones and when I did so about 8:00, he was over 80. I just freaked out. He has never spilled Ketones that I know of and it scared the bejeepers out of me. His dad and I took him to the ER and he had labs done and they gave him some fluids and sent us home. He seems a bit better this today. His temp is down and he isn't vomitting. Just hope the diarhea passes, now. He seems to be feeling a bit better too. Thanks to everyone who cares.
