Guest guest
Hi Conny, I just wanted to say that I can totally sympathize with you on how challenging the small ones can be for us " older " set! LOL I am g-ma to Aidan, 3.5 yrs old, and , 2 yrs old, and I frequently have them both here at my house. I have raised 4 kids, and have provided daycare for scores more, but I often find myself wondering how I used to do it all! LOL With both of them on the move, they, too, are a bit of a challenge, but, also like you, I couldn't imagine not having them in my home, or in my life. They fill our home with so much joy, laughter, and love! Just know that you're not alone! Guest guest
Dear Pat, I know exactly what you mean. I am the oldest of six kids, had five of my own and have provided care for scores of others, but I am getting older and this is getting tougher! My baby is 15 and I was beginning to enjoy being the 'supervisor' instead of the laborer, but it is back to diapers, bottles, late night crying, and more laundry than I can keep up with. I love them but wow! I am always shocked when I take them out and people think they are my babies. I always think, " Can't they tell that I am too old to be having babies! " Thanks for all you do on this support list. I read you all the time and have also thought that we have a bit in common. Merry Christmas to you and to your family. Guest guest
HAHAHAHA!!!!! You have put my thoughts and feelings into words on a page perfectly!!! Just when I thought I would finally have a little time for myself, be able to read a good book (more than a paragraph at a time), crochet for pleasure, etc... the g-kids came along. My youngest is 14, and is definitely in that " anything but family " mode (except with the babies! LOL) I, too, am shocked when we go to Drs appts, or we have out, and people think I'm " mom " . I know that more people are starting families later now, but me? as a mom of a 3.5 yr old, and a 2yrold, is REALLY stretching it! LOL Still you love them, and wouldn't have it any other way, most of the time! LOL If you'd like to email privately, contact me at pcpets@... I would love to chat with you. Your sense of humor is wonderful! Guest guest
Conny, I HAVE to have some sort of " lifestyle " or I fall apart. I find that I am much better psychologically if I have a schedule and a plan. It's when I don't that I fall apart. Actually, I have been so stressed over my new teaching position that I have had to resort to some extra Klonipin to make it through the day. Today, however, I did not need it. My aide and I decided that we have to stop taking things so seriously and just laugh. And that is what we are doing. We don't laugh AT the students, just with them and to ourselves. The kids are funny and just so adorable - even when Cody is having a temper tantrum and Alecia is lying on the floor with her fingers in her mouth. Now if the orthopedist would just get back to me with the MRI results for my foot and come up with a treatment plan, everything would fall into place. And you should do another thing I do....Sometimes take things one minute, hour or project at a time. It really works. Jodi Z.
