Guest guest
Just wanted to say...the docs told us that Keigan had trisomy 18 as well and we would be lucky if we could take him home. After he was born they said he didn't have it. I tested positive on the triple screen for trisomy 18 but didnt do the amnio to confirm or deny it. They induced me at 37 weeks due to the IUGR. My ped. and OB both have mentioned that the IUGR can mess up a triple screen test. Just thought it was interesting. > > > Date: 2003/12/19 Fri AM 10:36:23 EST > To: RSS-Support > Subject: EILEEN....again! > > Mommy to Keigan 4-15-03 (RSS) and Tristian 9-26-
Guest guest
, Thanks for your post. I guess since RSS isn't that known about, the Drs come up with the Trisomy 18 that tends to have some of the same " looks " in the womb??? Anyway, they amde a few mistakes with . They thought he had club feet and clenched fists. Among other things I can't remember right now. I didn't have the amnio. I didn't want to harm 's environment. He didn't ned anything foreign being poked into it while he was struggling so much as it was. I just decided that we would deal with whatever it was after he was born. Mind you, I wanted to know for sure, but I was not even convinced an amnio was going to give me answers. So, I opted not to do it. I do remember something to the effect of what you said. About the results of the screen could be biased somehow. So, I wans't putting much into all the testing. Although, I worried terribly! I wonder if it is true about the babies like ours that stop growing in the womb, that it is better to have them out of that environment. My Dr. said we would be doing more harm to him by leaving him in there and not growing. But of course, he had no idea that had RSS and that he wouldn't grow well outside the womb either. Jodi R.
