cisapride and behaviour

Hi Everyone....

I am wondering if anyone else has noticed that cisapride has an

effect on their child's behaviour.

I'm still not sure about this - but let me run it by you!

Finlay has been on cisapride for 6 weeks (approx) - it has had an

incredibly positive effect on his gagging/vomiting which is almost

non existant now. However I have noticed that in this time his

behaviour has changed...he seems to be much less settled, less

focused and much more prone to tantrum like behaviour....its hard to

be sure that the cisapride is causing this. But over the last few

weeks I have really started to wonder if it could be.

Today I missed his morning dose of cisapride - he was a different

child - so much so that I didn;t give him his afternoon dose either.

A few days ago he woke up before I gave him his early morning dose )

usually I put a dose down the tube before he gets up) - his behaviour

changed withing 30mins of him having the dose.

Its not always as black and white as that though - its more that

generally when he is having regular doses of cisapride his behaviour

is worse than before he was on cisapride or when he misses a dose.

Our Paed GI says its impossible that such a small dose of cisaprideb

(2mls 4x per day) could have this effect - he puts it down to Finlay

feeling better because he is vomiting less- he thinks that we are now

seeing " normal 4 yr old behaviour "

Any thoughts?????
