Guest guest
I believe that your doctor is incorrect. From what I have researched and been told, and you can " politely " ask your doctor this, Wilm's Tumors are more prevalent with children with gosh, I am searching my RSS Bible and can not find the info. So I can't give you the " medical lingo " but will give you the layman lingo. There are two types of asymmetry. The first is like with RSS, where one side is smaller and the smaller side is ABNORMAL (meaning the rest of the body is the " correct " size). The other type of asymmetry is where one side is LARGER (it may appear that one side is smaller but in actuality, the other is actually larger) -- this larger side is abnormal. It is in this latter type that Wilm's Tumors are more prevalent, NOT with RSS/SGA. If your insurance is willing to pay 100% for these twice-a-year ultrasounds, I guess it can't hurt. But otherwise.... > Hi, > Maddison had a routine appointment with her opthopedic lastweek. Guest guest
hi melissa- christopher had the ultrasounds done every 3 months for the first year and half after they discovered his asymmetry. once they decided that his left side was actually smaller (and not that his right side was larger) like jenifer said they said it was no longer a risk for wilm's tumors.they had to figure out which was which. hope that helps some. jodie (nicholas-5 nonrss, christopher-3 on monday rss, johnathon-6 months nonrss) > > Hi, > > Maddison had a routine appointment with her opthopedic lastweek. > We > > were talking to him about asymetry and he said kids with asymetry > > tend to have a chance of getting Wills Tumors???
