Guest guest
Hello everybody. Again I apoligze for not posting or replying as much as I want to...Just so darn busy these days. First off, in honor of Pippins First Birthday we held a fundraiser for MAGIC. We asked a local restaurant if they would donate 10-20% of everybodys tab to MAGIC, and they agreed. We sent out over 300 invites to everybody, and hung flyers at our gym, the coffee shop, work places of family and friends... Our invites spoke about Pippin and the MAGIC Foundation Convention. We wanted to raise funds to help sponsor another family to next years convention. On the cover we had 3 pictures of Pippin " eating " she doesn't! Playing with her food everywhere! We found it so ironic that we were asking people to come EAT! When our kids hardly EAT! We had over 150 families attend our fundraiser. It was all day Sunday and Monday from 4-9. We also had a raffle with some really nice prizes. We were able to raise almost 3x as much as our goal. Needless to say we are truly overwhelmed. It was a great experience and I couldn't think of a better way to honor Pippin and everything she's been through during the first year of her life. If anybody would like any further info, feel free to contact me via email, I can even pdf you the invite if you wish. Now her 1 year checkup! She is 14 pounds 7.5 oz and holding at 25 inches. She is on a new rx for retching and has NOT vomitted or retched in about 2weeks. She is a different baby! BUT, she has also stopped taking her 2 bottles a day, she doesn't eat at all. She will play and put food in her mouth but not swallow. So we're not going to let ourselves worry about that right now. When the retching has been gone for a while, we will try again...One problem at a time. She is standing with help and is taking a few steps along the couch. She can finally hold her head up while on her stomach. It's so funny, she looks like a turtle. She also wants to be on her knees and rock back and forth, I have to help her hold her head up...but she's willing to try! She is so funny her favorite place is under the couch, but her head gets stuck! We just have to laugh... She will start special ed preschool for " otherwise health impaired " the end of Jan. She did not qualify for OT services through our school districe only PT. She has her first endo appt Jan 6. So were looking forward to that. Her asseymetry (sp) is getting very noticable to me, even her eyes... We love her and wouldn't trade her for the world. This has been another challenging year for Team Lapish but with the help of family, friends, this forum, faith, and prayer we've been able to come out smiling and loving our " new life " with 2 girls. Thanks for reading our novel! Team Lapish Dan, Jenyfer, Tully & Pippin (1year-RSS)

Guest guest
Hi Jenyfer. Wow. Your whole post was so inspiring. It sounds like you really have things together. That is such a wonderful idea about the fundraiser. I have just recently joined MAGIC, and I don't know much about the fundraising part of it, but it sounds like such a wonderful idea in order to help another family out. What a great idea it was for you guys to go to a restaurant and raise money that way. I would love to do that some day. I think I will email you privately and let you tell me a little more about it, okay!? It sounds so encouraging how well Pippin is doing. I remember looking at one of her pictures (it has been a while ago), but I thought she looked a lot like my . She is bigger than is though. is 18 months old and 12 lbs. 13 oz. and 25 1/2 inches long. has just, in the past month or so, started holding his own head up, sitting up on his own, and now he is standing along furniture, but very scared when he loses his balance. He wants to be walking so bad. I think he will be doing it soon! That will be a huge milestone based on all the challenges he has faced. ) I just wanted to tell you how inspiring your post was. It sounds like you are doing a great job with Pippin, too. Jodi R. , RSS, 18 months old, 12 lbs. 13 oz., 25 1/2 in. > Hello everybody. Guest guest
I can tell all of you personally that the invitation that Jenyfer created with a friend for this fundraiser was INCREDIBLE!!!! I have a copy, and it would be easy to " cut and paste " if anyone else wants to do this kind of fundraiser. It was the neatest idea, and much better than getting a zillion gifts that a 1-year-old wouldn't be able to use anyway. Jenyfer - thank you again for your incredible dedication to both Pippin and the other RSS families as well!!!! S. > Hello everybody.
