Guest guest
Bo, Matt is adopted so his prenatal care was not good, he had a knot in his cord, and it was wrapped around his neck! The birthmom thought she was term, but the doctors thought he may be 3 weeks early. At birth he weighed 2.47 kg (5 lbs 4 oz) and was 47. cm long (18 1/2 inches). He was a poor sucker had to learn to eat. Oh what I should have done! He stayed in the NICU for a week. He gained slowly and was a " puker " but managed to gain just enough to stay off the meds. In hindsight, we should have put him on them! Bottle broke himself at 8 months. Pushed it out of his mouth. I think his oral aversions started then! At a year, his weight leveled off, he switched to food from formula and started eating less. His reflux was better, but probably because he was eating so little. Around this time he fell off the growth charts, and has only recently climbed back on. The next years are a constant struggle with behavior and eating. He started GH at the age of 6 years. His bone age was 4 1/2. He weighed 16.5 kg (36 lbs) and 105 cm 41 inches. We also started to aggressively address his reflux/gastric problems. At his last Peds appt he weighed 20 kg (44 lbs) and was 114 cm (45 inches). WE think that is pretty impressive for 6 months of treatment. IT isn't all GH, but that combined with treating his reflux and getting him to eat food and keep it in, has all helped. I hope this answers some of your questions. Does your son have any reflux, poor appetite, vomiting? I think I remember you saying he is on the chart but falling? I know that Dr. H will be the one with the answers you are looking for.
