Guest guest
Sorry I have not been posting too much lately. We are going through a tough period with Max, due mostly to his recent illness and aggravated by a family situation over Thanksgiving weekend. (Just leave it that my brother is an insensitive JERK and very manipulative - at Max's expense.) Max is showing tics/Tourette's in a much more pronounced way. He has hand flapping, shaking and tremors. We have had to increase his Clonidine which is working to help control them, but he is sort of drugged and looks terrible. The doctor said this would happen and to give it a week for his body to adjust. And we will do that. I am so thankful, however, for the school and his teachers and case manager. They have been so supportive and proactive and understanding of where Max is coming from. None of us predicted that his re-entry into school after almost two weeks (including one 4 day hospital stay) would be so traumatic. But his personal aide is with him for half the day again and she is on top of whatever Max needs. The nurse, too, is watching out for him because we have to monitor his blood pressure due to the extra Clonidine. Max is really trying, though. He is staying in school and not choosing to come home early when offered the option. He is aware of how his body is reacting and trying to do what he can to help himself. Again, I am so thankful for the doctors, teachers, nurses and other educational staff who are really stepping up to the plate. This is just another bump in the road, but it is taking its toll on me. I'm LOVING my new job as a kindergarten teacher (I was bitten today, so I guess I have now been christened) and just wish my son could be at peace so my life could be more settled. We will get through this. Meanwhile, I am reading the posts, but don't have much energy to write too many replies. Hang in there, bear with me, and I will be back in full force soon. Actually, if we get the snowstorm they are predicting for this weekend, I'll have lots of time on my hands! Jodi Z.
