My allergist prescribed Calcium and magnezium for this. Josh get 1000 mg

of Calcium per day and we adjusted the magnesium until his stools became

soft. This WORKS! If the stools become too soft then cut back on the

magnesium. We give Josh this supplement called natural calm. You mix

the desired amount with liquid and then I just squirt it in his mouth.

--- Jodi,

I don't know how much weighs, but n weighs about 20 lb

and I give him 5 cc of Milk of Magnesia at bedtime when he's having

problems. That alone doesn't do the trick though. I also give him

Benefiber 3 times a day, about 1/2 teaspoon. I've tried all the oils

and prune juice and other tricks, and Benefiber has definitely

worked the best. Also when he has these bouts, it usually takes

about 4 days until it clears up. Watching him in pain is horrible!!

Hi its kim I had costant constipation as a child and my parents found

reflexology beneficial and masaging around the back of my ankles( a

corresponding point to the colon) and this seemed to help also i took a drink

called " fybogel " (in UK) a liquid fibre(sort of) as I didnt eat or drink much

as a kid

Hopes this is of some help as drugs needn't always be the first choice for an

RSS kid

Flax Seed.

Flax Seeds contain the Omega 3 stuff and help keep ya regular.

It is an old " Atkins/LowCarb " trick so to speak.

Flax Seeds can be used whole or ground into a flour... and used to make

muffins, pankcakes... etc.

It has a nutty flavor.. and is quite tasty!

Hydration & ambulation helps & doc gave me a list of 'stool

softeners'. Hehe,we talk about everything on this list. I've kinda

stuck it out w/out taking anything, & hopefully will avoid the, uh,

hemorrhoids, later on.

Here's a link:

Don't know if the link will work, if you seach babycenter &/or yahoo,

it should pop up.

I take stool softeners. The generic version of colace - docusate sodium from

Walmart everyday.

When that doesn't work I pull out the benefiber....It has zero taste. You mix

it with juice or whatever beverage you want. It works really well.

My hemotolgist suggest having a little bit of melon everyday. Especially

honeydew. It's seems to be working good for me. I have to take 4 iron

supplements a day and havent been constipated so something is working.
