Guest guest
Hi Kathy Sorry to hear this.Has mitchell had any in the booth testing done to see how he is doing with only his n24c?..Have you asked him why he turns it off? Love Dora we are back Hi everyone and I (and the rest of the family) are back from our holidays. I sure had a lot of reading to do! We have only been home 3 days and his N22 has broken down. Last night I used it as a good reason why he could only use the N24 but today he has gone back to the Spectra (which he really doesnt like) Wearing the N24 on its own isnt getting any easier and being busy on holidays hasnt helped. I think every time I checked he had it switched off. I must have asked him 5 or 6 times a day and sometimes I would switch it back on and watch as he walked away and when he thought I couldnt see him he would switch it back off. I am going to have to be firm with him but at the same time I dont want him to resent us for getting it for him. What it comes down to is " you can lead a horse to water but you cant make it drink " It really is up to him to make it work and I am going to have to find a way to convince him that he really does want it to work. Any suggestions? We see his audi again this week and I will talk to him about it but I think he will be very dissapointed as is one of his " star " students as he has always done so well and I am sure he had high hopes for him. Dont get me wrong, I am not about to give up yet and I Have to remember he has only been switched on for 8 weeks, but it gets very frustrating for me when I feel I have to fight every inch of the way. Thanks for letting me get that off my chest it has been two weeks since I have been able to let of some steam. Guest guest
Kathy, Welcome back from the holidays.. Sorry to hear you are still having problems with not wanting to leave his processor on for the N24.. Have you tried talking to him to see if there's anything specific that is bothering him? I know he's young, but maybe he can explain to you exactly what it is that is bothering him. Other than that, I don't have any magic words of wisdom for you.. wish I did.. maybe a different speech strategy would make a difference with the different processor? what strategy does he have on the N22? on the N24? I'm glad you feel comfortable enough here to let us know what is happening, and if we can'd do any more than provide emotional support, that's what we're here for. Hang in there and keep us informed. Hugs, Silly
Guest guest
Kathy, I am going to assume that you still have ACE programs on the 3G and the more you post about 's reluctance to wear his newer processor the more I believe he is one of those who prefers SPEAK. I'm really sorry that this is so frustrating for all of you and it should not be. It should be a time of great pleasure and accomplishments. I would have been very frustrated with SPEAK on my new processor and have ACE on both. Isn't there any possibility of at least letting him try SPEAK on the newer side? He will still have the benefits of the 3G. I'm glad you are back and also glad you feel comfortable venting here. That is what we are for and not just sharing the good things. Support means just that...so keep posting and hopefully we can help. We're gonna try anyway. <smile> Alice N24 11/99 M24C 04/03 Bilateral
