Where can you get tac cream and what is tac cream is a prescription needed?. We

have the granulation tissue and have used the silver nitrate but the nurse said

in some cases the tissue just keeps growing back. As long as it's not leaking

real bad or infected to leave it alone. We have used kenalog (sp) cream.

Jodi,

Thanks for all the advice. I am going to try venting her. I also know that

it is possible she is catching a cold. As for the granulation tissue, what

happened to Max is why I don't want to use the silver nitrate. The tac cream is

painless. I'll be sure to let everyone know what I find out about the tea tree

oil as well.

THANKS!

Tac cream is Triamcinolone Acetonide Cream. It comes in different strengths and

ours is the .1%. It is a prescription steroid cream.

It is my understanding that granulation tissue is a good thing. But, it's one

of those good things that can be a bad thing when you have too much. Make

sense?

Too much tissue keeps the tube site from being stable. With Alyssa, there was

equal growth all around the site and it stuck up about .5 cm. This kept her

stabilizer from being flush against her skin, so it was unstable and moving all

the time. Thereby creating more granulation tissue as well as leaking. And the

more tissue you get, the faster it reproduces.

The tissue is moist, also not good. The site should be dry to prevent

infection I believe.

I have not heard of the cream you mentioned. This cream was prescribed by a

" Stoma specialist " at our children's hospital. All she does is deal with

stoma's. I figure she probably knows her stuff. Her first inclination was to

use the silver nitrate because the results are immediate. I requested an

alternative if one was available and she prescribed the cream. I was to call

her if the tissue didn't get better. It's been 2 weeks and it's easily half

gone.

Just my 2 cents. . .
