Guest guest
:-) I am sorry for the delay I have been out of town. The problems with anesthesia have to do with the amount of time they have to go without food/drink before a procedure. Typically, our RSS kids can not fast due to hypoglycemia. Also, if they are going to intubate then you need to let them know that the epiglottis may be more anterior than expected and that they may need to use a smaller tube since the neck is usually " younger " than the head. (they do not all pick these things up right away) Knowing to watch for these things ahead of time make the intubation less traumatic. They may want to place the tube using a scope to view her throat as they intubate her. Maddison may or may not have these issues but it is best to warn them of the possibilities so they are prepared. It is not a good situation if they are not. One more thing is if Maddison has reflux it is possible she may reflux while under anesthesia and aspirate. If Maddison does have the reflux issue and has a g-tube not a g-j tube then they may want to suck out any juices in the stomach before putting her out to help prevent the reflux under anesthesia. It is a precaution and it is helpful when done. That is my two cents and every child is different so please use this advice appropriately taken from someone who has been there when things went well and when they did not. > > Reply-To: RSS-Support > Date: Wed, 26 Nov 2003 03:40:13 -0000 > To: RSS-Support > Subject: teeth problems > > Hi J > Thanks for the advice.
