Guest guest
I must have written my post at the same time that Jodi wrote hers. Jodi reminded me of one of the challenges I often feel about RSS and a tube-fed child....especially the 100% tube-fed child who started with oral aversions. I find the endocrinologist and the feeding therapist to have somewhat competing goals, and it is hard to determine how to move forward on both fronts. Of course, the medical issues win out, but the transition to oral eating has to move forward at some pace if we are ever to get rid of the tube! The win-win situation is almost always the gradual approach that Jodi mentioned. But I still think we parents of the 100% tube-fed child have to hold our feeding therapy goals higher than most endocrinologists see fit! It doesn't imply ignoring the endo,....just reminding yourself that their appreciation/goal for oral-eating is not necessarily the same as ours.
