Sweating while sleeping

Does anyone have any experience with their child sweating while they

sleep? My son, on, age 4, sweats when he sleeps. Sometimes

it's so much that we think he urinated in his bed but then we realize

it's sweat. It happens just about every night.

His endo said he is borderline hypoglycemic and told me to test his

blood sugar at night. We tested it twice. The first night it was

101 and the second night it was 138. According to the charts, those

are normal numbers.

I've learned from this site that nocturnal hypoglycemia is common

with RSS. But I am confused as to why he would be sweating if his

blood sugar numbers are normal.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi!

We've been having the same problem with . He doesn't have to be doing

anything, and he'll break out in a sweat. And I mean the kid sweats! He does

this in his sleep, just sitting with us reading a book, playing, anytime.

And most of the time, he DOESN'T sweat like this when his BSLs are low!

Any ideas?

My mother said that I used to sweat a lot at nighttime when I was a

baby and small child. I don't recall anything ever being done about

it, but then again, it was 30+ years ago and I wasn't even diagnosed

with the RSS until I was 15. So as far as we always knew, it was

just a part of being me . My old Raggedy Ann doll (my bedmate

until I was 10) had a LOT of sweat stains on her though .

Just an RSS kid who grew up

No Periactin, no G-tube, no nuthin'

(but my pediatrician DID suggest wine in my baby formula, as an

appetite enhancer. Didn't help )

Hi

Finlay (also 4) sweats at night too....sometimes his head and upper

torso are saturated. Finlay does have hypoglycaemia issues but is

tube fed continuously over night so we know that his blood sugars are

always within a normal range while he sleeps. I have no idea why he

sweats so much....will be intersted to see if any one else can shed

any light on this. maybe it could be a question for Dr H???

Our daughter used to sweat (mostly forehead) during feedings as an

infant. I recall mentioning it many times to the pediatrician, it

was that noteworthy. She definitely outgrew it at some point. She

got her g-tube around 4 months, but I recall her sweating after that.

I don't know if this falls into the same category as the sleep

sweats. It's very interesting.

Max, too, sweats a whole lot. He is always warm, no matter how cold

it is outside. In fact, he usually does not even sleep with a

blanket or sheet over him in the winter. We finally got him to wear

pajama pants instead of boxer shorts to bed, but it has to be pretty

cold before he will cover himself. I don't know how he does it.

avery is a big time sweater. he also does not sleep with a blanket. i

have cvered him up when i was cold and a short time later he is

soaked. he also only wear a jean jacket in he cold of the winter.

because he would be completely soaked by the time we got any where. i

have never seen sweating like this. i try to dress him for the

weather, big heavy sweaters etc. it just doesn't work. :)
