,

Go slowly with the Periactin. Try the nighttime dose first and at

half the strength to begin with. After a few days, then you can go

up to the full dose and see how Colin is reacting. He may be very

sleepy in the morning and possibly cranky, but it should get

better. If it does not, then go back down on the dose and slowly

build up again.

Next, start with the dose before lunch. I said lunch because you

said he really does not eat breakfast anyway. Do the same slow

build-up as with the evening dose. Once things are going well, you

can try the morning dose and see if he wants to eat breakfast. Just

give it time. You will just know naturally what to do. You have a

good sense for those things.

, I have never heard that Periactin causes growth problems.

What I have heard is that it helps with growth because the kids want

to eat more which helps them gain weight and then get some catch-up

growth that they did not get due to poor nutrition/caloric intake.

The only growth problem I am aware of is that of some kids gaining

too much weight. I'd love to hear more about what your doctor heard.
