Guest guest
, As I read your email, one thing kept going on in my head - this kid deserves a request for another eval.! What you need to do for me is find out what the percentages were for his skills that they tested. It is true that he has to be below a certain percentile in some area (s) in order to receive service. BUT he is also an " at risk " child. You can try the " other health impaired " route, too, if you would like. Most doctors would agree that RSS kids do have health issues and should be in an appropriate preschool. What you have to do, however, is make sure that you are not going for it because you cannot afford another type of program. Whether or not that is true, they don't need to know that. Your child has rights and they should be recognized. So...what am I saying? I am saying that you have to do several things. Get the percentiles for each thing he was tested on. It should be in the written reports that you should have received. Next, you need to ask for another eval by someone else that they recommend. You have to do that or you will have to pay for the eval yourself and it can be well over $1000. Third, you need to get a doctor's note that recommends him for the preschool handicapped program. School systems are getting much tougher with their qualifications for special ed. It makes me sick. But it all comes down to money. And they say that someone has to be in the middle or the lower end, so why not your own kid? I really get burned up over that one. Email me privately if you would like. Having the other info will help me better advise you. Jodi magicrss @hotmail.com

Guest guest
, You should call them back and insist that you be given the percentages. Something is not right if they are not giving them to you in the report. Jodi
