I know you directed your email to Pat, but since she has not

responded yet, I thought I'd give my opinion.

I would not worry about the rate that Laikyn is on right now. If she

is tolerating the feeds, if she is happy and healthy, and if she is

growing and gaining weight, then leave things be. She has so much

catch-up growth to do that the rate is not an issue yet. If,

however, you think that she is getting too heavy, then you can

always back down.

Dr. H., who we saw just yesterday, does not even calculate Max's

weight for height anymore. She can look and tell if he is too

heavy. He has stayed at 100 pounds for so long, and grown a bit

each time, that she is quite happy. I even commented that we had to

buy him a smaller size in pants because his adult 29's just don't

fit anymore - they are too big. She just smiled.

For now, let your doctor guide you. If you think Laikyn is gaining

too much, then you can make changes. She was such a tiny thing in

July that I can't believe she would be overweight now. Actually,

now that I think of it, you can keep an eye on her growth. If it

starts to slow down, then keep an eye on the feedings. The problems

arise when the growth rate slows, but the feeding rate is not

adjusted so they get too many calories. Do you understand all of

this?
