Guest guest
Hi Everyone, I really haven't meant to be away from the computer so much, it is just hard to get on here, with everything that has been going on. Also, my husband's job search and a teenager who thinks i should be prohibited from my own keyboard, on top of Maxi....well, you get the idea. On to Maxi, surgery was last thursday, they took 2/3s of the adenoids, left some behind because of his high and weak palate. He sounds fine, just a bit congested at the moment. He seems to be draining alot still. The ears were more involved that the doc had thought, so that took a little onger, they had to not only remove gel, but some scar tissue as well, before replacing the tubes. He has some swelling there as well as in the throat/palate area, and his hearing still appears to be compromised, but I will wait for full healing before pronouncing that there is a problem. He just stopped running a fever this morning and is ona five day course of zithromax. His eating and weight are another thing entirely. He was very nauseas when he woke up and just kept gagging. Now, he seems to have a memory of that and is leery of food. He is now down to 27 pounds. He is drinking, and will eat a little something every few hours, but nothing by way of the volume that this kid can usually eat. He now is getting the big bellied, stick like arms look, that he had when he was two(amazing, that he weighed 32 pounds at the conference this summer and that 5 pounds(three from that previous fever like thing and an adittional two from this) can make this much difference, eh?). His blood sugars are a bit off, but that is nothing new. They still don't know what causes his acidosis. His energy is a little less now too, he seems to tire faster( I blame that on the weight loss, and we are starting his favorite shakes and peanut butter fudge again). We are just kind of taking it one day at a time here giving him lots of love, support and electrolytes, waiting for him to bounce back, he usually does. Still there is that part of being a mom, ever watchful, waiting to make sure, uneasy that things still aren't right... Wish I had a Dr. H to look at him and tell me in her exasperated voice " That child needs...now go do it " . Lol, really, I do. On the up side, he still is Maxi, very funny, and very ready for whatever mischief he can find, and still smiling. Thanks for such a long sharing, hugs to all!
