Guest guest
I had pneumonia repeatedly throughout my childhood (although none of my bouts were caused by aspiration). It is my understanding that the more often you get it, the more susceptible you are to it. Although, I did want to make you and everyone else who might not know aware that there is a pneumo-vaccine available in the US (and in NZ, too, I'm sure). I've gotten it since I was in seventh or eighth grade and it's done wonders for me. I don't know at what age the vaccine can be started, although I do know that it is sometimes hard to get because many doctors don't stock it and will only give it to the elderly or those with health concerns (I usually have to go to the hospital as opposed to my gp to get it). Anyway, that's something that those of you who have kids who get pneumonia often may be interested in asking your pediatrician about. ~Hillary 21, RSS
Guest guest
The flu vaccine is supposed to be good for 10 years. I just asked my doctor about it. He said that some people don't wait the entire ten years, though, and insist on another one after 8 or so. Jodi
Guest guest
Jodi Z Don't you mean the Pneumonia Vaccine is suppose to be good for ten years. The flu vaccine they change what is in it depending on what they think that type of flu will be for that year. So the flu shot is given annually. Tori had her first flu shot and pneumonia shot before discharge from NICU at 4.2 lb or there abouts. Maloy Re: Pneumonia- The flu vaccine is supposed to be good for 10 years.
