Guest guest
Chrissy, The stomach has lots of little bumps and nodes that produce stomach acid. They " pump " it into the system/stomach area. A proton pump inhibitor " turns off " these pumps so that acid cannot be produced during the day. The only difficulty is that the pumps do regenerate during the day, so something like Zantac needs to be added at night to neutralize any acid that may be present. Then you use the PPI in the morning again, and so on. Max uses Protonix, but it must be because he is older. It seems like the younger kids are on Prevacid or Prilosec or whatever it is. I get confused with all the P's. I'm surprised that Dr. H. does not have Madison on one of these meds. I'm also surprised that, considering the delayed emptying that Madison still has, she has not considered Cisapride. You may want to ask her about both. Jodi Z.
