Guest guest
Hi everyone just wanted to share a little shock we had last night. Finlay woke us by screaming in pain at 3.30 am. We rushed through to find him lying face down on the floor with blood gushing from near his left eye. He had fallen out of bed and landed on the metal base stand of his IV pole. He (and we) got a huge fright we cleaned up the blood and he was OK but spend the rest of the night with us but Mark and I have spent all day thinking what if...it had been 1cm further to the right.....it would have been his eye. Tonight we will be placing lots of cushions around the base of the IV stand. Finlay has not fallen out of bed for about a year so it had not crossed my mind that the IV base could be a hazard. We have only just started using an IV pole as we need it to suspend the Farrell Valve from....anyway just a heads up for anyone else who may have a similar set up - consider puting cushions round the metal base even if your child does not usually fall out of bed. Finlay is fine today - has a swollen eye and a " puncture " like wound have had him checked out at our local medical centre and they said we had been very lucky that it wasn't his eye........how good a mum did I feel :-( Ah well - just wanted to share
