Guest guest
Hello everyone, I want to thank everyone who has tryed to help me with as much information as they can about me deciding whether to put on GH or not. I have decided to do the six month trial. One of my major concerns is reading everyones emails and realizing that is really small for her age. I see peoples notes or progress markers about their childrens height/weight/age and it's seems like is too small for her age. She is currently 34 " and weights in at 19.01 lbs (as of last friday) and she is three years old. I never realized not even by looking at her sister, measuring almost 5 whole inches taller and ten whole pounds more, standing next to her how small really was until I had this thought the other day. I was putting them in the car and just tought, is almost able to be able to turn her car seat around now (we all know that 20 lbs is the marker weight), even though she has been facing forward for two years (she wouldn't sit backwards after her sister turned around). I felt really bad. Has anyone else had this low a weight and height in their three year old marked time frame with their children? And if so how has progress goen and where is your child now? But I just pray that the GH will increase her muscle mass like they say it will and improve her eating and weight gain. Also, 's doctors have never refered her to a nutritionist. I know they said they would but with endo and nero i think i forgot too. Do the families whoes children take appetite incrasers see a improvement with adding this/ese medications. Yall know i don't like to give medications excessively, but I want my skinny minny to gain some weight. You should just see her skinny legs and hear comments even other three year olds make about her size. I am getting so fed up sometimes, but just want the best. Can anyone else give me some feed back on what to expect also, with starting the GH? I am apprehensive but open minded right now. I will keep yall posted on 's progress. Take rae everyone and God bless In-ja 19 lbs, 34 " (RSS) and 30lbs, 38 " ; 3 years old
Guest guest
In-ja, Hello! My name is and my son Christian has RSS. He will be 3 in about 4 weeks. He weighs about 21 lbs and is 31 3/4 in. tall. We are not GH right now. Dr. H wants his weight-to-height to be in the 10-25th percentile. His appetite isn't terrible. It's just not very good. His main source of nutrition is Boost/Ensure via bottle. Anyway, just wanted to respond with my little guys history. Hope this helps. (Mom to ,6, (non-RSS) and Christian,2.5, (RSS), Periactin and Zantac

Guest guest
In-ja Hi! My son Storm has RSS and is now 8 years old and 44 pounds and 46 " At age 3 he was 19 pounds and 32 inches. He started Gh at age 6.5 yrs. He also takes prevacid and reglan for reflux and he takes cyproheptadine for an appetite stimulant. His weight finally reached the 3% mark at age 7y3m and his height is still not quite on the line yet! I hope this gives you some idea. Guest guest
We are in the midst of making the same decision. My daughter, Abby, is 5 years old and was diagnosed RSS about a year and a half ago. She was born at 36 weeks, her weight was 2 lbs 11 oz and her twin brother was 5 lbs 8 oz. He has continued to be about twice her size in weight since they were born and has remained several inches taller. I would really like to hear from anyone who chose not to do use growth hormone. I have researched and researched as much as possible and think we're looking at whether or not we want to increase Abby's adult height from somewhere around 4 1/2 feet to 5 1/2 feet (give or take of course). She has absolutely no health problems and is a very confident (in fact, sometimes irritaing in her obstinance!)child. I am struggling with height being the only reason to put her through the process of using this treatment. Your story sounds simliar to ours because at 5 1/2 years Abby is about 36 1/2 inches tall and 23 pounds. She's seems to be much smaller than most of the posts I've seen, yet many of the other kids are on growth hormone so I don't know how that relates. At 3 years she was 17 pounds. I don't know if this is useful at all, but I couldn't help posting. Guest guest
Sherri, With Abby at 5 1/2, you still have time to make the decision of whether or not to use gh. It is a very personal decision and you have to feel very comfortable, or at least over 50% comfortable, before you try it. Perhaps Abby herself will let you know in time. If she begins to complain about being so much smaller, then you may have your answer right there. There is a big difference between being 4.5 feet and 5 feet and it may bother her as she gets further along in her school years. For now, though, I would recommend that you keep your mind open and go with what your heart tells you. I will admit that even though Max has been on gh since he was just about 3, there is not a night when he gets his shot that I don't say a little prayer that he will be okay. Everyone has told us that gh is safe, and we have seen NO side effects of a negative nature, but we never anticipated that he would still be on them at 15 along with other meds he needs to supress puberty so he can grow more. I do worry that a few years down the road, someone will find some condition that relates to longterm gh usage, but we knew this from the beginning and just hope that if they do find something, then medical knowledge will be more advanced to help us deal with whatever may happen, IF it happens. Now that Max is almost 5 feet, we are tempted to wind things down a bit. WE know that he will have a final spurt of a couple of inches, so he would probably make it to 5'2 " and that is okay. We intend to discuss this with Dr. H. in two weeks. On the other hand, we did not start gh only for the extra height that Max may have gained. We had to use it because Dr. H. thought it would increase his muscle mass, his appetite and help stabilize his blood sugars. And it did do that for him. Many people find it hard to believe that Max even has RSS because he is not skinny and he loves to eat. They should only know what we have been through to get to where he is now.... So, I guess my message is that you have to do what you think is right. You always have the option of a trial on gh, too. Whatever your decision, most of us will support you because there is no right or wrong answer unless your child's health is at stake. I remember one family at the convention who had not been advised to use gh and their son is now in his teens and he is quite short-statured. There is nothing that can be done to help him grow, so they have to work on his self-esteem and other things to help him feel good about himself and move on in his life. At least you know about gh and can think about it for awhile. Good luck in your ventures. Jodi Z.
Guest guest
Hi everyone! we too have just made the decision to start gh. my biggest fear actually is more selfish or made up in my own mind, i worry that christopher is going to be afraid of me or angry at me for having to give him the shots. how has anyone else delt with this. its hard to explain to him since he is 2 1/2 yrs. i know i am doing it to help him in the long run. he is now 33 " and 22lbs. his 4 month old brother is 15lbs and 25 " . if anyone has any pointers on how to deal with giving him the shots please share. he doesn't even like when i trim his nails. Guest guest
Jodi, Thanks for your response. I had a great email typed up last night and then my computer locked up and I lost it. You're right, it's a very personal decision. Whichever way we decide, there is always the fear that our child will come back as an adult and be unhappy with our decision. We can only do the best we can and pray it was the right thing. Abby has not say anything to us indicating that she is aware of her size difference, although now that she's in school we can be sure the other kids will point it out for her. If only we could keep them isolated and protected until they were full grown! Sherri > Sherri, > > With Abby at 5 1/2, you still have time to make the decision of > whether or not to use gh.
