Guest guest
First off, thank you to everyone who participates in this group. We had an IEP meeting for my son today, and some of the things I have read here helped. The people at my son's school are great, but at one point I started getting the " it all depends on funding " line. If I hadn't read about " least restrictive environment " and what the school's legal obligations are, I might have just accepted what they were suggesting. Fortunately, it didn't get nasty (they really are great) but I was able to be firm in what I needed armed with the knowledge I gained here. So a big THANK YOU to everyone that continues to post. On a secondary note, due to my son's writing difficulties, they are proposing the use of a an " Alphasmart " device next year. Does anyone have any comments, good or bad, on it? Is it just one more thing to distract him, or does it really help? Thanks again, Thad
